Audeze Mobius review / impressions

completely agree, it's a big mistake since the cups they are sending by default are totally 100% trash.
The Mobius itself is being discontinued as well, right?

I haven't seen anything that would indicate it will be discontinued. When I spoke to Audeze support, they only indicated that the gel pads are the ones that are discontinued, not the headphone. And it is widely available online, both the Mobius and the Hyper Cloud Orbit S which is the wired-only version of the Mobius. I have seen no indication that the Mobius will be discontinued anytime soon.

Ah good points. I’ll just keep appreciating the current Mobius. Sounds real good with the 3.5mm cable. Still curious with the ohms impedance level is

Sooooo, everything was going super fun with my Mobius, but this morning when I put it on I noticed a big unbalance between left and right cup, the right being louder. Not much, but noticeable.

But the problem went on to get more and more present, and now I have pretty much all the sound on the right cup. Anyone ever had that problem, any idea ? The problem is present in USB on my computer and bluetooth with my phone, even the vocal messages from the headset sound only on the right cup...

[Edit : getting the sound to 100% than back down seems to have resolved the problem... It's still super weird, any idea if this is just a bug or the sign of a potentially harmful defect ?]

So, Mobius is turning 2 years old pretty soon, but our author Mikail Khilko decided to make a retrospective review, sharing his impressions

Can someone tell me what the impedance for the Mobius is? I checked their site specs and no mention of it. How many ohms is it?
A lot of people confuse the Ohms value with loudness.
In fact Ohms and loudness are only loosely connected.

Lower Ohms simply mean, the 'phones "suck" more power out of the feeding amplifier.
And- not all headphone amps can feed low Ohms and still sound good.
Low Ohms means low Voltage, but high Current.
Tube amps e.g. prefer it the other way round.

More important is the sensitivity/effectivity of the 'phones.
A 50 Ohms Fostex RP50 is much quieter then a 300 Ohms Sennheiser HD-800 e.g.
Both are much quieter than a typical 50 Ohms Sony.
And all are much, much louder then the very inefficient 60 Ohms Hifiman Susvara.
So all these differences are NOT related to the Ohms value, but the sensitivity/effectivity of the headphones.

What does this have to do with the 4300 Ohms AUDEZE Mobius?
Nothing!
😂
Mobius 3.5mm "Aux"-input feeds an active amplifier and AD-converter.
AUDEZE has defined the "gain" of this active amplifier in a way that Mobius is comparably sensitive to average passive over ear headphones.

Only that the high impedance of 4300 Ohms does not challenge the feeding amplifier, letting it sound better.
Mobius can favorably be directly connected to standalone CD-players or Hifi-Preamps (Cinch-) line outs e.g.

Perhaps dekoni will bring out a line to fill the pad gap.

I tried Brainwavz HM5 Sheepskin earpads on the Mobius, directly mounted and on an additional felt base.
I didn't like the sound change.
I have the Gel-Filled-Pads on order (last stock pair from this specific dealer), will report once they are here.

Nobody to help me with this ? I feel the balance is still slightly more to the right, and I don't know what to do to make it even.

That's what I did, but I'm under the impression it's not really normal to have to put the right cup at 65% of the left to get a good balance  .
It most definitely isn't.

Switch the EQ back and forth every time you turn it on maybe? This is a long standing firmware bug as I understand it and Audeze is aware of it. Mine does this every single time but after toggling the EQ profiles back and forth it comes back into balance. If that doesn't help, it's broken. RMA
