I think the LCD-X and XC have 8 magnets across, 2 more than the LCD-2:

You might be thinking of he560 v4, not he6se
HE-6SE V2..my mistake on version.
eBay item number: 254789048195
Anyway, back to all things LCD-X and comparisons to it.

I am in onto this thread with one of the latest LCD-Xs.
This corrects the highs, which was my major concerns with LCD series phones.
And also I recently purchased fazored LCD-2 which already corrected those highs.
That lcd-2 pushed me to get LCD-X, which are similar quality but with closer to Sennies sound quality with much more deeper quality / quantity over the lower ends and heavenly mids of sound.

For the record the "Franken-LCDX" I got has 8 magnets just no fazors.

I do remember the LCD-2 having that alu. cup through Adorama or similar, not sure of LCD-X though...you may have an over-priced set of grills...

Maybe. I do know it's not the LCD 2 tuning as I've owned 3 of them in the past. I've owned 1 previous LCDX and the tuning seems much more similar to that.

I can confirm a few things. The aluminum cups were an exclusive through Adorama. But, they have the same post-2016 re-voicing as the other LCD-2Fs.

Counting the fazors as mentioned above holds up for my 2F and X.

I'm enjoying my newish LCD-X now with Woo Audio WA22. Fourplay on Tidal HiFi quality sound real good. Very clear yet meaty and bass is thumping. Really like this headphone. I also have the LCD-3f which is undergoing a new headband, earpads replacement. Love the LCD-3f too, just more relax and warmer.

HE1Kse will be arriving soon. Wonder how that will position itself with my Audezes. For one, I'd expect it to be lighter in tone. Well I'll find out in a week's time.

I have 3 amps that I use with LCD-X and they all sound very good together. Here with La Figaro 339. An OTL amp that drives the LCD-X so well it surprise me.

Finally LCD-X with Oblivion is a pleasure to listen to. I don't write long reviews now but I have to say I really like the LCD-X despite having several other headphones. In fact, LCD-X is my main headphone now despite the weight and tight clamp but I can go several hours before I need to take it off. :)

I guess check with Audeze themselves using your certificate of authenticity - there is a serial number there. If you supply them that, they should be able to tell you if it's 2020 version.

Any reason why you think it's not the 2020 version?

no not at all, but it sounds different than my old lcd x which i bought in 2015, i do not have the box or anything related to it, i just have the headphone, and get this new headphone from the dealer and by mistake threw away box as its just creator edition , and everything included in it except the cable
