the lcd-5 sounds the same as the lcd-x. Do a blind test and prove me wrong.
The lcd x isn’t that bad when I upsample to 1.5mhz. It’s a decent sound.

I’m surprised that the lcd5 is such a departure from their previous headphones. I think they sound good. I was just not happy with the design and fit. I’ll definitely get a pair down the road.

Transducers are another issue.
We were on the subject of A/D, D/A conversion.
Then sit down and listen carefully.
Now is your chance to learn something:

I think the analog section of most DACs are where the difference is. Unless someone feels all amps sound the same. In which case I have nothing more to share. Debate is good, arguing with a wall is a waste of time.

I just demoed the Weiss 502 DAC. A $10,000 piece of equipment, which I didn't find any better than my Yggdrasil. I actually thought the Yggy sounded more spacious. But they certainly soounded different. Of course quick switching between DACs or amps is a terrible way to compare. You have to listen for a while to pick out the subtlteties.. Your brain has to get past the initial wow factor if you will. Like seeing the fine details in a picture.

Meh, I just blindtest my stuff and that's good enough in my free time. Already have an EE job nine to five. What I don't get is a) the resentment over an inaccurate video which tries to explain stuff dumbed down AF and b) the hyperbole of videos describing materials sounding like their visible light spectrum. Each to their own, it's just a hobby (for me at least) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

People who think a $3000 DAC sounds different than a $300 DAC,
have never done a blind test.

Electrical/technical engineering has nothing to do with this:
incredibly people who own a mercedes tell me it is better than entry level ford and I had this one friend who told me the steak he paid 50 bucks was better than the 5 dollar steak in his supermarket...can you imagine

Not surprised about the review. It would have been more surprising if he liked it stock.
I would have to agree with his assessment. Stock is not something I would rave about from a tonality perspective and there is a phenomena that is happening with mids becoming more forward with higher volumes, at least to me. Sounds like all he had to do was enable some eq to taste.

So far, Oratory's eq is my favorite and I still add a half db to the bass! lol Sounds spectacular and I am done!

My LCD-5 will be delivered soon.
I took extra vacation time, am very excited.
Of course Oratorys (for me #1) setting is already loaded!

When I opened the case, I saw the following picture.
Apparently, after checking the contents, customs stuffed the cable on / between the headphones.
The driver on the right was destroyed.
Now I hope that Audeze will be as accommodating as possible...
Of course I reported the incident to UPS.

Currently "enjoying" the Lcd5 on one channel 🤢

Still, the resolution is incredible.
And I come from Utopia...

Oh geez... sorry to hear of this. If Audeze are as understanding as I have found them to be they will resolve very quickly. They are very good at resolving Customer issues and questions. Wishing you all the best....

No, I bought it used. Here in the community. I'll bet it was the customs idiots. I could see in the shipment history that customs clearance took place within 20 minutes. They stuffed the stuff in the suitcase like that...

I am a electronics technician and repair robots full-time.
Therefore, I would basically trust myself to replace the driver.
I hope that Audeze will help me quickly and easily...
