That happens. It's sort of like when you upgrade to a 4k TV and suddenly the news anchors aren't as good looking as you remember.

Some people will find that extreme level of detail enticing, myself included, and revel in hearing reverb trails, room echo, chorus effects, and general depth to the sound enough that they can get over hearing a lot of hash in the mix as well. And some people won't. It would be pretty boring around here if we all agreed.
As they say, "no good deed goes unpunished"

I don't agree with Zeos's review this time, but to each his own.

I've been plugging the LCD-5 into some of my equipment and found that it paired extremely well with the iFi Pro iCAN Signature. You can even play around with the analogue X-Bass and 3D Space knobs along with two different Tubes modes to find what works for you without adding any EQ.

Another good pairing was the Shanling M30. I'm still waiting for the new AMP module but the default one is good at providing clean energy to the LCDs.

Once I'm done with those two, I'll hook the LCDs to my Chord stack which hasn't been getting much action lately once the iCan arrived.

I usually don’t agree with him because he splits his cables and uses tons of stuff that interferes with sound quality and then sits there and can’t tell the difference between holo May and a 300 dollar dac. It’s absurd. It doesn’t add up.

One point that’s universal is that our ears are different so he can have his opinions…..whatever

People who think a $3000 DAC sounds different than a $300 DAC,
have never done a blind test.

Electrical/technical engineering has nothing to do with this:

I’ve had a bifrost and a yggy side by side
Also had a spring and a Dave and a May

Yeah……it’s absolutely absurd to say that you won’t hear differences in different dacs.

Add to that given an amp that’s very transparent it will show the dacs color even more.

I have always watched Z Reviews for the entertainment value rather than the educational value.

Lots of people love music, probably 95% of all people will admit to loving music - I do have a friend or two who don't - maybe I should choose whom I associate with more carefully :). The large majority of music lovers with be perfectly happy with listening to the music on a single speaker transistor radio and there is nothing wrong with that. The reason why TOTL audio equipment exists is because some music lovers want to be part of the music creation process. You don't simply want to be able to follow the tune but you want to experience each instrument where it is its own space in the soundstage, enjoy the timber and tone of instruments made by masters of their craft and experience the beauty and imperfections of the human voice.

Zeos is clearly not one of the these music lovers.

So if I take the red pill I stop hearing a difference between digital analogue converters?

No thanks 😂

I tell you in my post I have tested many dacs. I name them and how I have a b tested and you shrug. And try to red pill me?
🤷‍♂️

For most, there's no shortcut.
It seems to be part of the process of walking around the Snake Oil department for years.

Do you think I enjoyed being disillusioned?! 😉

I think you are arrogant. Just like zeos

I think that anyone who does try to spread his disinformation is being disingenuous. I think that people hear differently. It is possible he hears no difference. But that’s a big red flag for me because I DO hear differences. And that means taking advice from someone who has different hearing than me wouldn’t be wise.

I think I was civil but you insulted me. Which I don’t really think is needed.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t the first time you had insulted someone over being able to hear the difference in certain DACS

Annnnnd I was right. You have a history of arguing with people over this topic. All someone needs to do is click on your name and look at previous posts.

Ignored

This has nothing to do with arrogance.
I have been involved in this hobby for decades, and have a corresponding "career" behind me.

It always ends up in this:
do a few blind tests, then we'll talk again.

My suggestion:
We come back to the topic LCD-5

Wow, impressive 👌

PS. they don't even do that,
when the frequency response is identical.
