Audeze LCD-2 Orthos

This is the frequency response graph of my pair (s/n 5698183) and it looks like the second one from ianmedium's post. Well... I think I'll wait and see before I jump into this new LCD2.2 bandwagon, I suspect the difference is akin to old and new HD650.

So what headphone did you have right before the LCD-2s?

A very astute question. If it's true as I believe that most headphones are unnaturally bright then first exposure to the LCD-2 will almost always result in a "dark" impression. I find nothing dark at all about the LCD-2. From the beginning I've found them borderline bright, and could even do with a little less treble on some recordings. That's coming from an HD650, after rejecting most of the popular mid-price phones as absurdly bright. My criteria is always live music, never other headphones, but I appreciate that many posters' criteria is going to be other headphones. This is dangerous, as it can lead to compounding errors to the point where a manufacturer will change a product because it's a little out of line with the majority of other manufacturers, whose products may or may not be natural and accurate but nevertheless are pleasing to a certain number of people.

I'm happy that Audeze wish to continually improve their product, but concerned that, by their own admission, they've acted on the comments of people all of the same "dark" opinion. What about those of us who are more than happy with the present balance?

So they added more treble on new drivers? why they do that. I really love my warm LCD 2 sound, they are perfect and by far my favourite headphones.

If they sound as bright as T1 or D7000. Damn. I might hv 2 get rid of them..

I really do not see any real extra treble in any of the graphs, new or old.  Maybe the uppermids are less recessed, hard to tell without an audition, using the HD650 as a reference...the mids might step a bit towards the HD650 direction...which in all honesty is a a very nice midrange to step into, albeit with a little sacrifice to body on some recordings.  This rev.2 may be the true HD650 on steroids...because the original LCD2s sound nothing like the HD650s.  My best guess.

The new leather headband should simplify differentiation.

I don't think the new leather headband will distinguish LCD2 Classic from LCD2 Rev2.  I have the Classic and ordered the leather headband retrofit kit as soon as it was available.  It would be helpful if Audeze would add something to LCD2 Rev2 that is unique and easily identifiable without having to check serial numbers.

Ohh sorry ,what I mean is the uppermids. Will they sound significantly different with that boost graph there? Mine is the older graph. I loved the sound of it. So I am really interested to some comparisons on them.

Might make a particular dark track more pleasant...might make a lean track even worse.  Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

But I was pretty certain Tupac mixed with a pair of tubed Denons.

I bought mine at 13th May.

So I guess only the cans after June are "brighter" ones.

Yoga, here is my second pair to compare to yours. My graph was dated 5/15/2011

For reference/comparisons: graph date: 15th June 2011, SN: 5312403

To my old eyes they are all but identical. With my previous pair the line at the far right end where the 6.00 is cut off but at the cut off the line is going up rather than with the second pari going down. also where the line goes down from 1k to around 4k what part of the sound is that referring to. Sorry for my ignorance but I used to dream of watches in science class instead of paying attention to graphs and such!
