Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread

Any other amp or amp/dac combo recommendations for the LCD 2? Just got a pair. Would prefer something in the $500 to $600 range.

Gustard H10 looking like a great amp for planar cans. Fairly new amp.

Will do. I'm trying to figure out if I need to make a balanced cable for it. I've seen some sites say the newer orders come with them, and others say there's just a 1/4" in the box. I don't know whether to order parts now or not!

Has anyone used one of those cloth headband covers similar to these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pure-Wool-Headband-Cushion-For-LCD-2-LCD-3-LCD-XC-LCD-X-Headphones-/261664258202?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item3cec67b89a

It looks so cozy...

Perhaps this is an option for you?

I think that's Head-FI user Lohb. Ordered one from him.

I just received my suspension strap from Lohb last week. I've only tried it on my HE-500 so far, but it really helped improve the comfort level. Very well made and look nice too! Highly recommended...

I was thinking about buying one myself, thanks for that info monkeysixtysix!

Well damn. I emailed Audeze just to confirm. I have LCD2.2F. Previous owner sold these as non fazor. oh well.

Customer Service, Feb 16, 10:22 AM: Hello Peter,
Your warranty will end on 4-11-17. Your unit does have fazors and is a Rev 2.

Good thing is I actually have warranty. As these were sold with no warranty.

It's pretty easy to tell if you have the fazors.  Look inside the ear cups for horizontal metal lines.  They're pretty obvious.

Out of Audio-gd NFB-15 yes. Bass is lacking a lot. But when I listened them before buying out of Musical Fidelity M1HPAp there was plenty of bass. Very dark. Out of NFB-15 they are just warm.

When you say "I listened to them before buying" are you referring to the pair you have now or a different pair?

Sorry for the confusion, I'm just trying to understand if you're blaming the amp or the fazors.

FYI, I wrote up a comparison last night of the NFB-15 vs the NFB-28 (Sabre DAC and way better amp) in the NFB-28 thread.  I used the HE-560, but the differences between the DAC's are the important part.  It might help you determine if the NFB-15 is the issue.

Hint:  The NFB-28 has more bass extension and more sub-bass body but the mid-bass was lacking in dynamics (which is a Sabre thing).  The 28 also has a lot more treble so overall it feels brighter, even though there's more bass.

This exact same pair. Bought these second hand and listened them at the seller's home before buying.

So if I bought something like Gustard H10 and used NFB-15 as DAC it would hold the sub bass back? I'd later sell the NFB-15 and get better DAC but currently that is not an option.
