Audeze DSP presets now available in Roon

Yes, I did try the new 2021 LCD-X presets in Roon and they are very, very good. The sound is a little 'darker', which I like. There does seem to be an issue with MQA decoding depending on the filter setting, but that's not a show-stopper for me. That may be a problem with Roon rather than the Audeze presets.

Paradoxically, I like both the presets in Roon and stock sound of the 2021 LCD-X depending on the mood I'm in. They are both equally appealing to me.

I just ordered a '21 LCD-X to try out, just wondering if you remember how much break-in time (if any) before yours sounded their best. The Clear Mg's I'm currently using sounded nowhere near the way they do now for the first 12 hours or so...

Not sure about break-in time to be honest. They sounded fantastic straight out of the box!

Audeze burns the drivers in at the factory... I just got the lcd2c tuesday, so I am planning on burning themin further...i think there is still great potential here.

Yes, you can tell. I got mine yesterday and let them play several hours before I started listening, and then listened for about 4 more hours. Everything sounded pretty well set except for the quality of the bass. There was plenty of it but it just didn't sound quite as sweet as it does on my Clear Mg's, which is what I'm comparing these to. In that last hour I did notice some improvement, so we'll see if that holds when I listen again tonight. One thing they absolutely nailed right away, though, is vocals. Male or female, doesn't matter. I can't say yet if they're better in this regard than the Clear Mg's, which are also great at vocals. We'll see how everything shakes out. I've got a while before my return window closes so I'll definitely give them a fair shake.

As far as the Roon preset that I was so looking forward to trying, it was pretty disappointing to me. As Taz said above, it gives them a darker sound and for me it's too dark and also seems to suck a lot of the life out of them. I also don't care for them "naked" or without any Eq. To me they sounded best with a Harman curve applied and then given minor tweaks to suit my taste. A pure Harman curve is a bit heavy on the bass so that's one adjustment, then a lot of people may think it's too bright. I don't, but I'm older (55) so that may be why. It sounded pretty great to me, very dynamic and fun. I'll play around more with Eq in the coming days.

If I keep them I'll also have to order a new cord. I really don't like the included one. I have a Black Dragon for my Clear Mg (which I can also use for the Denon 9200's that I also want to audition) and that would be the easy choice, but I may look around a bit and try something else. Almost certainly want to stick to copper, though. My one try with a silver cable was horrendous, it was crazy expensive and I absolutely hated it.

@KMann Is it ok to request the convolution filter files instead? Will that be as accurate as the original?
I want to keep Roon related EQ/DSP/Preset comments here.

Convolution filters are what we provide Roon, and I would be able to share them on request (PM) but not post them publicly. However, I cannot share them till we are able to deliver the presets to Roon.

Hi! My apologies as I mean this in the most polite way that I can but I don't know how to phrase it well: Why is this taking so long? I'm no software/hardware/sound engineer, so I'm just really curious. I'm absolutely in love with my LCD-5 and can't believe they may end up sounding even better. :)

Bob Katz/Gary Cole presets for CRBN and LCD-5*

It is hard to describe the amount of effort that went into creation of these presets, Bob and Gary have spent many days designing these presets and they also collaborated with many sound engineers in this process. I look forward to a detailed post from Bob and Gary to describe the process.

We have provided Bob Katz/Gary Cole presets for CRBN and LCD-5 with Roon and hope they will be made available soon. Sharing the presets that you can directly use with Roon

Can we use these on Equalizer APO?

Can we use these on Equalizer APO?
I've got no experience with Equalizer APO, but from my understanding you should be able to. They are mono .wav files, I am using them in HQPlayer now with no issue (choosing the same file for L & R channels). Since 768k are provided I used those as they are the highest available. Should be able to point the convolution engine in Equalizer APO to the appropriate file.

As with other Audeze presets, I prefer the Linear flavor YMMV

Are these available for the Euclid that you could share here too?

I've been waiting for Roon Labs to add the Euclid to Roon for about a year. Hoping you can share the preset files if it exists so we can get a jump on using them. Thanx.
