Audeze DSP presets now available in Roon

Hi KMann. Thanx again for this. Just got around to using this today. And I'm really liking it! Sometimes I like the Euclid straight un-eq'd. But mostly I like it with this convolution filter. (personal preference tho is I also am adding a small low bass and high treble boost)

Wondering tho, can you try the Linear Preset / 256K tap zip file -- not from your harddrive but rather downloaded from Dropbox -- on your Roon client and verify the file is valid?

I'm able to load the Zero Latency file in Roon's Convolution filter; music pauses then starts with a noticeable alteration in tonality. Thus, verified that it works.

However, when I load the Linear 256K tap zip file, the UI blanks quickly, and drops out of the DSP panel back to the Roon Home panel; there is no alteration of the music tonality. And returning to the Roon DSP panel shows that the convolution filter set has not been loaded.

I've tried it several times and re-downloaded the zip file in case my download was corrupted. It is not, as I can double click the zip and it is unzipped successfully.

P.s. I'm presently doing this on my MacBook Pro 2019 running macOS Monterey v12.4. I'll try it later or tomorrow using one of my Windows workstations to see if that matters.

P.p.s. If I load any one of the Linear 256K .wav files, that will work. If is only when I load the zip file that it does not.

Thanx again.
I do not have any problems lading it. Note that these are 64bit files and larger, one reason I can think of is a possible disk space issue (only if running Roon from RAM disk)

Thank you for checking. I found this to be a failure of Roon Remote UI on macOS. When I used remote desktop / RDP to login to my RoonCore on Windows 10, and use the Roon client UI there, I was successful in loading the zipfile in question. Well, this is good to know at least.

I have no experience with Roon; is it possible to export these (or their approximations) into something like AutoEQ?

lcdrBob Katz/Gary Cole presets for CRBN and LCD-5*

It is hard to describe the amount of effort that went into creation of these presets, Bob and Gary have spent many days designing these presets and they also collaborated with many sound engineers in this process. I look forward to a detailed post from Bob and Gary to describe the process.

We have provided Bob Katz/Gary Cole presets for CRBN and LCD-5 with Roon and hope they will be made available soon. Sharing the presets that you can directly use with Roon

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to add these presets to Equalizer APO? I know how to add EQ settings that are a text file but when I downloaded these they are .wav files!

Alternatively if somebody can send me a screenshot from EQ APO or Roon of the Bob Katz EQ settings for the LCD5 it would be highly appreciated :)

Yes you will have to use the Advanced -> convolution option to load wav files. APO will allow only a single sample rate, so choose one that you are most likely to use. If it is for things like Youtube/Netflix etc then 48kHz is best

Thanks! Which sample rate should I choose if I’m streaming lossless music from Deezer using an RME adi2 DAC?

I have not used Deezer, but I assume it has an app because browsers such as Chrome will only sent output at 48khz which would mean a needless conversion. With most streamed music, 44.1khz is the most common format so that is what I would use, make sure you set the RMI DACs rate to 44.1kHz in windows sound control panel.

@KMann I started using the LCD-5 preset Roon and love it. I wanted to add a bass shelf to the filter via REW, so I can have a resulting convolution filter to feed into PGGB for upscaling with the EQ fully baked into the files.

I have two options:
  1. Use the PEQ you posted (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/audeze-dsp-presets-now-available-in-roon.858730/page-8#post-16955174), and just add a single band for the bass shelf. Do this in REW and then export as convolution filter.
  2. Import the LCD-5 convolution filter zip (picking one of the frequencies from the zip file) into REW, add a single bass shelf PEQ, and then export into a new convolution filter that combines both.
Which is the better option? My understanding is that the convolution filter is higher quality than the PEQ, so I would want to start with convolution and add PEQ on top (like what Roon does).

Either 1 or 2 should work, did not know you can even do 2 and 2 would be even better at reducing any errors. For LCD-5 and CRBN, the FIR filters were extracted from the PEQ filters provided by Bob Katz and Gary Cole, so they are the same for all practical purposes.
