Good to hear nik! Can't wait to hear your impressions after a week!

PS: please make sure to go buy a 5k amp for them, i'm curious how good these can get with the right amp.

Nope! No any other amp this time, the EarMax is very good... if there will be another amp for the L3000 will be the ATH 3000 built for them. But I think the EarMax AE is excellent...

Best!

Yep, me too. They're already freakin' amazing with "just" an unbalanced Singlepower SDS

To my ears they scale much better than the 650 as you upgrade sources & amps (at least up to the level of my current rig - normal laws of physics may not apply to Nik's rig, lol).

Hi,
How long will it take for the L3000 to reach its full potential. My pair has about 70 hours or 80 hours, and already sound great.

About 200-250 imo. After 150 hours the bass really started to come alive.

Can I ask some questions:

How is the soundstage of the L3000 (depth, width, heigth)?

How is the balance in the midrange and how are the transitions from bass to midrange and midrange to treble? Any particular noticeable jumps in the frequency?

In what areas are less expensive headphones such as the HD 650, CD3000 or DT 880 still superior?

How suitable is the L3000 for mere background/falling-asleep listening?

If it's possible to sum it up, what are the L3000's major flaws/strengths?

Sorry for the many questions but the weak dollar, all the praise surrounding these headphones and its availability from bluetin makes them really interesting.
