@WalkieTalkie Sorry, I missed this earlier and I never got an email notification.

There are a few possibilities including a bad download or a corrupted system partition because the firmware didn't download correctly and corrupted the system on install.

A few things to try:

With the player turned on, try a soft reset. Hold the power button down for 10 - 15 seconds until the player shuts down. Press the power button again to restart. You should be prompted for download again. Try downloading again.

If that doesn't work, I recommend trying a factory data reset. Settings -> System reset -> Factory data reset. Try firmware download after factory data reset

Next option would be to try a different wi-fi connection as the one you are using may be corrupting the download.

If none of those work, it may be a corrupted system partition, which would require you to send it into one of our service centers for repair.

Feel free to PM me if you need more info.

I had a problem downloading the new FW 1.12 from 1.11 after purchasing my SR15 that stayed at 2% then 0%. It turned out the WiFi at my house was the problem. After switching WiFi at my brothers-in-law house the FW was very fast downloading.

I'll try a different WiFi hotspot. I'll write down the result in the next 24hrs right in here.

This time I connected to a router instead of mobile (cell phone) hotspot.
Positive result. Done.

@JasonNYC, first of all thank you for your presence here and fast responses.
I'd like to report few minor bugs, hopefully they will be fixed in further updates.

1. In Main Menu --> Album view albums with the same name, but different artists are grouped together.
For example albums "13" by Black Sabbath and Blur (or albums "Americana" by Neil Young & Crazy Horse and The Offspring) are shown as one entity with songs from both artists mixed together, and you can't separate them using Album view.

2. All music in flac, that I've added to player's memory (doesn't matter - SD card or Internal storage) after update to 1.10, shows "Year Unknown" when I'm pressing album cover to see more information about the currently playing track. Needless to say, that correct tag is set in such files, and the year is displayed correctly for example in Foobar on PC.
Music in flac, that was added to player's memory prior to this update (from 1.8 to 1.10), shows correct year from the tag.
Music in mp3/m4a, added either before or after the update, doesn't have such problem - correct year from corresponding tag is always shown.

3. Button '+' (from the "Track Information" screen) doesn't work quite often. Sometimes it leads to "Add to Playlist" screen, as it should, but sometimes - simply no effect (except of short blinking when pressed).

4. Not a bug, but proposal: it would be very nice to be able to use the year tag as a pattern for search. For example, press 'magnifying glass' button from the main menu, enter "2018" and the list of albums released in 2018 is shown.

P.S. Firmware version is 1.12.

Hi Jason,
I appear to have a problem and I hope
You can help
I’m having a problem loading music onto the sd card, it starts to load and then stops and says unable to load a certain track then it totally loses communication.
The only way I can get it to see it again is to reboot the SR15.
I’ve deleted all the content off the card and retried several times but the same problem.
I’ve found a workaround for the moment by putting the card in my Walkman and using that to load the music, I’m just concerned that there is a problem with the player because it’s only a week old.

Thanks Andy

I managed to transfer 186GB of data over last night in one shot.

DM me if you'd like a freebie code to try the software.

That looks pretty cool, I’ve have managed to get all my music over by putting the sd card in my wife’s Sony nw a55 Walkman with no drama to be fair
I hav another question that someone may be able to help with.
I’m looking at getting a set of Sennheiser’s
will the Norma drive the HD650 or HD700’s ok or would I need a separate amp?
The 700’s are 150 ohm and 650’s 300 ohm

Thanks Andy

Hey is there anyway to get back to the artist from the now playing screen besides the back button? I know you can swipe right and you have the songs of the current album.

But say you’re playing a Rush album (2112) and you want to get back to all your Rush albums- is there a way besides the obtrusive back button? I know it’s a knitpick but if that back button was just the < symbol without the circle it would be less obtrusive.

I don’t see any obvious way but I might have missed something. Update went smoothly btw.

Thanks.

Tap the Album Art once, a back button will appear to the lower left. I ditched the circled button altogether.

Agree. You are making a real difference for Astell and Kern's reputation here IMO, @JasonNYC

By the way, in the mean time is there a way for me to downgrade firmware to pre 1.10 so my playlists will work, anyone?
Unfortunately, no way to downgrade to an older version of firmware.
