Astell & Kern SR15: A&norma Impressions & Reviews

@JasonNYC - So, as you may have seen above, I created a definition for an out-of-the-box Astell and Kern SR15. It worked great to sync playlists for firmware version 1.04 - see lower video:

Now, after updating to the latest firmware it no longer works. In fact external playlists no longer work at all. If I copy a playlist off, rename it and copy it back it fails.

How do we get this to AK's attention? Its driving me and several folks absolutely mad!

@JeremyLaurenson Due to the new Open App system, we needed to change the way playlists function on the players with Open App service, including the SR15. Previously, playlists could be stored in any folder on the device, but since 1.11, playlists can ONLY be stored in the playlist folder. This change was necessary since a number of streaming apps will create hidden playlist files that are stored in various places in internal or external memory.

That's fine but they don't work.

External playlists have Never worked in the playlists folder

I got on BF the same price plus 5% from A&K online but I had to pay CA tax. It was still a good deal.
Originally I planned to get the SPKM but changed my mind and now I have not regretted. This is an amazing little DAP with good SQ after updating to new FW 1.12. :L3000:
We are currently running another holiday deal with 15% off the SP1000, SE100 and SR15 for US/Canadian customers in the US E-Store and through participating dealers until December 16th.

@abone You are using a Mac with Android File Transfer, correct?

Android File Transfer tends to hang when copying over large amount of files. Unfortunately, since MacOS does not include native support for Android-based devices, you need a third party app to use.

Our Mac users in the office here use Commander One Pro. It's a paid app in the Mac App Store. I believe it is under $30. It is a more robust file transfer program and works really well with Android devices and large file transfers.

For 2019, we are working on providing better options than AFT for Mac users.

I wrestled with this for ages and you have two better options right now:

https://github.com/whoozle/android-file-transfer-linux/releases This Android File Transfer app is better than the google one. Remove the google version and try this. (free)
https://www.map-pin.com/ My Dapper app reuses the above to automate this from iTunes, but costs money and has extra error handling to keep going when the AK burps and is free to try. ($20)

Sir you just saved me 100 bucks! I bought mine from Crutchfield for the regular retail of 699.00 and now it’s also 595.00 on their website- so they’re refunding me the difference yippie!!! :)

I wouldn’t have known otherwise.

My wallet thanks you!

Anyone on the fence it’s an excellent price:wink:

This... Feels... Good.

For YOU.

Could you please explain the inability of upgrading from 1.04 (factory) to 1.12 (current)?
(my previous message contains youtube link that contains all the steps that replicates the issue)
