I check the size of the AK380 with the amp module and compare that to my Hugo, it is about 95% of the size of my Hugo and may even be a touch thicker. So it is started to become out of the range of portable and started to become transportable.  I am still very happy with the portable size of my 240ss. If I need a transportable setup, I can take my Hugo with me.

Out of curiosity why do you carry the Hugo? Is it because the cans you have are more demanding the AK240SS doesn't suffice or is it for an alternate sound to the AK240SS? @arnaud
was gracious enough to ask questions for me about the AK380's amp module at the AK380 launch and it seems the purpose of the AK380 amp module is really more for the more demanding cans.

I normally only carry the 240SS when I travel in US domestically for convenient sake which is two to three times a month.  However, a few times a year I do travel internationally with over 16+ hours one way, it is in that condition I have the opportunity to listen critically and sometimes just wanted to withdrawn to my own world in the long flight especially if I didn't get upgrade to business class.  To me at least, I am able to discern the difference between listening only to the 240SS and the 240SS/Hugo combo. With the 240SS/Hugo combo the sound is a little more organic and immersive where as the 240SS is just a little thinner and not as clean but the difference is not too big.  I travel with JH13 and FAD Fibass, they are both easy to drive out of either systems and can bring me very close to my music.  Thanks for asking.
