If I'm not wrong, the Tera-Player happens to be the most expensive DAP in existence, so it should be the best of the best.

Well from the 380 cu ($3999.00) they came out with the 320 ($1,800.00) and now the 300 ($899.00) the trend is clear, I can see the Onkyo DP-X1 and the Questyle QP1R are doing something good to AK.  AK has to do it otherwise they will not be competitive in the DAP market especially in the $1000 and below range. I still wish AK will release a revise version of the 380 that include two micro sd slots and may be with a 512 g built in memory and a better amp.  Well I can hope more announcement to come this weekend at Munich Audio Show right?

Ok, you guys made me do it just 3 weeks after getting the amp, I just ordered the 380 and amp in cooper. Damn I can't win, so the Fedex man will be bringing them tomorrow.
There may be a good deal on a stock 380 and amp in perfect mint condition. Stay tuned

Try to find one and listen to it extensively.

Your statement is absolutely true when you don't have a decent pair of transducers to unlock everything.  The Porta Pro can do so much and that keeps your statement so real to your belief.  
Stays as an ostrich and be happy, don'e worry about how good it can be in the rest of the world.

Well. I've it sold back last year at the price I paid for with no profit.  I'll let someone to enjoy it without the penalty of paying out of sync pricing.  The decision [of letter Tera go] was made after extensive comparison between Tera and the AK240 over a 6-month period.  
 
Having said that, back two weeks ago, I had a chance auditioned the Ak380cu against my Ak240.  380cu is a great product while the sound did not offer any breakthrough in sound in synchronicity to its price and craftsmanship.  I can say it has richer mids but still fall short of a "wow factor" to an AK240 owner like me.
