Are these new HD 650s or old?

Well the way i see headphones is the more you spend, the more you get. not always true, but I'm sure some people spend 15K on headphones and still aren't satisfied. I will be using them for FLAC music and gaming (with astro mixamp if anyone has any experience with this combo). I read some pretty good reviews on these headphones and it looks like a top performer in its price range if not the top.

The hd650 is going to need something other than the mixamp powering them.  If you're dead set on using the mixamp I suggest you go with the Audio Technica ad700's. They don't need a seperate amp, and they have a great soundstage.

not sure on the amp ? they are pretty darn good without the amp that is one reason I got them ? also reading other things and trying to compare the 650 are very nice but ended up with these ?

the fact the 650 would be about $350 with no amp and the Denon can be found for way cheaper $220 or so and in the tons of reviews I had read it seems that some like the denon more ? and it really boiled down to what the person owned ? so is the 650 better ? I bet 650 owners will say so and D200 owners might like theirs more ?

but again the 650 many say needs a decent amp to really bring them out and the budget with a nice amp puts it in the $500 range

Open box HD650s and an E9 (already own the E7) set me back $450. The cans (open box, mind you) alone were $320.

Still waiting for the goods. I believe the E7/E9 combo can be had from Micca as a bundle at a straight $200. New HD650s weigh in at ~$350-$425. So...either save up or compromise (if your heart is set on HD650s).

Well my heart isn't completely set on the HD 650's so i am wondering how they compare to the Denon AH-D2000. I am really trying to find the best headphones for my budget and there can only be so many right?

You will probably want a big soundstage with good positioning.

You could get an AKG K701, never owned one myself.
 or

or
AD700's
Search the forums, see what you might like, It would be even better if you could demo them.

I own an HD650, and you need more than a mixamp, but if  you have enough money, they could be a good gaming headphone, but you'll have to spend more that 350 mate.

Well I failed to mention that the #350 budget is only for the headphones and the only reason I need the mixamp is to be able to play my XBOX 360 with them. I will be buying a seperate amp for my computer which has an Asus Xonar DX sound card. I was also considering the AKG K701 but dont know how they compare to the HD 650s

Just make sure you also try the Sennheiser HD600.  I was like you, thinking I would like the 650's best.  Then I A/B'd them and found the 600's more to my liking.  That saved me $100, which helped towards a new/improved DAC/Amp.
