ya your micro sd card is most likely a fake. you got ripped off.

second possibility would be your tags are not reading properly so you should switch to tagscanner program. https://www.xdlab.ru/en/

get this card instead

i would stay away from sandisk and also patriot. alot of the sandisk on amazon are fake. and the patriots have a bug with the ap80 where u cant copy files over the usb cable

after you get a working sd card you can follow these tips for further helps

Thanks a million, much appreciated. Will start with new card. The XC card was dirt cheap, so no great loss.

Brand of card is XC, bought from Amazon for next to nothing, so could be dodgy card alright.

return and REPORT it, really sick of the thieves, ebay is packed with them

only *1* 1tb card readily available right now, the sandisk extreme, can be had for $250 or so if you look around

I can verify they work perfectly and even though they say there's a file limit, i think it's more CYA, as i got way more than 15K files on it

15K files isnt much for a 1TB card. i have almost 17K files on my 512GB lexar card and still have room to spare. and many of my files are 24/96

im not sure exactly where the ap80 databate limit is at, i heard it was 20K for tag indexing into the ap80 update database

be nice if the ap80 pro would have two micro sd card slots

you can also try this method

warning those amazon links are .ca so prices are higher then .com

ur connecting ap80 to phone?

Hi, late response

I'm trying to connect it to a USB DAC, in this case an SMSL AD18 in order to output to my speakers
When I plug in the AP80 using the included USB-c to micro-USB cable into the dac it doesn't matter what I set the USB setting to I get no output

I think other people in this thread have done this with other portable DACs

Try switching up the order in which you turn on your equipment.
For instance: turn on your Ap80 and have it play a song. Connect it to your DAC via usb cable. Turn on your DAC.
It should say something onyour Ap80 like “connection to DAC blah blah”. If it doesn’t, try turning off/on your external DAC. Sometimes this works with external equipment.
Edit: of course, have all your settings in order before you begin.

Man, I finally got MSEB dialed in on the Philips X2’s and it took them to a whole different level. Amazing sound. This is an awesome DAP for the price. No regrets.
It is an excellent dap for its price outright, and it can also serve as a direct source into a higher level dac or as a BT transport into a dac.

you mentioned getting the AP80 dialed in - what settings are you using?

No news about AP80 Pro? I thought there would be some in the new year.

Can someone confirm that the AP80 will connect via AAC codec to bluetooth heaphones? I know I see issues with people connecting the AP80 to an Iphone and it running as SBC. My primary concern is that it can transmit using the AAC codec and that it is stable. Thanks

i dunno, all i know is i can connect my ap80 as a dac via bluetooth to my laptop and i can play AAC music files on my laptop and hear the songs playing via headphones that are connected to my ap80

i dont use that feature but i just tested it

i have no bluetooth headphones right now that i can test

YES, but with an asterisk: if you connect to your phone using the ap80’s Bluetooth menu, you will get sbc. However if you connect to the ap80 via your iPhones BT settings, it will connect in AAC. However, when connected via aac, there is a2-3 second delay. For music, it works perfectly, but for video it is useless, as the sound will be out of sync with the vid.

I love my ap80, but in this particular case the fiio m5 outperforms it in this one area. The M5 will connect to your device via aac and be perfectly stable.
