Hey guys, I got a bit of a problem, This otg cable came in today http://www.ebay.com/itm/251211470827?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 , and I plugged my fiio e07k into my galaxy s3, and it worked instantly. Music played out the fiio,. I remove the fiio and use my phone like normal.. just right now in bed, I decide to plug the fiio in to listen before I got to bed.. as I plug in the cable, the phone shuts off!!! I can't get it back on, pulled the battery, removed the micro usb cable, tried the charger cable, nothing! Any ideas? Im bumming out right now, as I rely on the phone for contacts.

Did you try the other suggestion on just leaving it plugged in for a few hours?  Don't touch it!! Don't peek, don't 'just check'. Just keep your greasy mitts off of it and let it charge up for a few hours.  Try that first before you start pulling everything apart.. trust me... I know.

Hey I scored this mainboard on ebay, now the guy says the esn was reported stolen, can I still work with it? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-galaxy-s3-main-board-16GB-Verizon-/271143181533?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&autorefresh=true&nma=true&si=QMARoNuwEszITHEa3AEguKFUvhw%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

While you could probably use it via wifi, you'd never be able to activate it on Verizon's network, and you'd probably have a lot of trouble reselling it. Not to mention the fact that the last legitimate owner of a device reported stolen can have the ESN restriction removed, so the person you'd be purchasing it from may well be a thief, and there are a few moral implications there worth considering.

I'd pass if I were you. Quickly.

"SB Touch...buh bye. Hello Android Media Box…

Plug and play USB audio support - no drivers, no snap crackle pop, no dropouts. Wow. The sound was absolutely fantastic. What a great way to consolidate my favorite streaming apps and have my ripped collection just a click away as well. All controlled remotely from the comfort of my easy chair and viewed on my big screen TV. I AM Slothman!

In summary, this was all an exercise in music listening convenience for me and obviously NOT an audiophile quest. However, I do believe that devices such as these and the applications being developed are on the verge of further revolutionizing this hobby in a big way soon. After my initial experience with this (basic) media box, I can certainly see why Logitech decided to kick the SB Touch to the curb. I hope this thread may spark a little more discussion and interest in these Android media boxes/ mini PC's. I haven't seen much mentioned about them here or on computeraudiophile."

Very interesting Danba, but from a pure audio point of view, what’s the biggest difference between this box and SB Touch, except you can’t stream songs from your Android phones to the Touch, and vice versa?

I'm trying to figure - does it need a screen?

You gotta have one or you won't see anything

, the FAQ did say you can use your "Android smartphone as a keyboard or mouse"

well who says you have to, if you have it set up properly, and maybe a few scripts. can toss it in a car, and and DNLA the music to it, its all controlled from iMediaShare anyway.

Pair up with a good DAC, and we have ourselves an in-car media solution, compared to ALL the ****ty HU's available.

The Android mini PC is a lot cheapier than the SqueezeBox Touch.

"Android Mini PC: The Next Tech Revolution?"
http://droidwithme.blogspot.fr/2012/12/android-mini-pc-next-tech-revolution.html
"But what if I told you that was about to change? That there is a growing market in the tech industry just around the corner that can very well shape the landscape the way tablets did?

A device that has all the internals that a Android phone/tablet has but with no screen. What it does have is a HDMI output that allows it to connect to your existing HD television. All while running on the latest version of Android with a dual core processor and smaller than any set top box on the market.
The asking price?
A mere $60 USD.
A device filled with endless possibilities.

Android Mini PCs are a relatively new product. The concept is simple. A small device with good internal specifications, running the latest Android, and an HDMI output for the screen. This allows a user to have access to the best Android has to offer on their big screen television. Imagine checking your E-mail, using over 700,000 apps in the Google Play Store, watching videos, listening to music, or browsing the web all from the comfort of your couch."

Anyhow with Android phone, Android tablet and Android mini PC, Android is definitely a New Kid in Town for the USB DAC market sector.

Great news everyone!

The patch that jacknorris was working on over at XDA works for the i9300 and the Nexus 7! :D (No US S3 confirmed to be working atm *sadface*)
This means that we can get our AOSP/AOKP fix!

Currently running CM10.1 with Siyah 1.8.6 using the D-zero, it all works flawlessly! Moreover, it seems that the phone REALLY uses the dac now. On stock/stock roms, you could still change the volume on the phone whilst a external dac was connected, giving the impression that the phone was still using the internal dac. But now the volume is stuck a max and you can't change it. Don't now if it's placebo but I actually noticed a few details here and there with this patched applied which kinda convinced me that the phone is actually using the dac now.

Yusssss!
