I've got very little internal storage on my 8GB Moto G, so I've invested in a 64GB USB flash drive to carry audio files with me to upload to the phone as I want them. It's a bit of a clunky solution to having little on board storage, but hey it's cheap (-ish).
I'm curious as to whether it's feasible to expect the following solution to work :
attach an unpowered USB hub, with both my flash drive and UD110 DAC plugged into it, then attach the hub to the phone via OTG Y cable, with the power connection of the OTG Y attached to mains or computer (to power/charge the phone), and manage to playback files from the flash drive in UAPP on the phone while outputting the audio to the UD110 ?
I have already tried and failed to get the USB hub (linked below) to work with a standard (unpowered) OTG cable, both with the hub plugged into its own mains adaptor, and with the hub drawing power directly from the phone itself...

I see there was much discussion way back on this thread relating to how some phones would only route audio through USB when using a hub connected to the phone (or some such). If anybody has any advice as to a USB hub (powered or unpowered) that might allow this type of functionality (give or take the OTG Y supplying current to the phone) or has any knowledge of such a setup working successfully then I'd be delighted if they could share their experiences with us, before I randomly start shelling out money on hubs right left and centre etc.
Cheers,
