Sorry if this is a bad question, but how do these do for isolation (in and out)?
I know that they aren't closed headphones and aren't designed to isolate but how much leakage is there at average to slightly above average volumes? Does the mod change this in anyway compared to the stock MS-1?

As you have to raise volume a few dB to get the some subjective loudness as stock, the symptomatology is even worse than the MS1, at least for your vincinity.

On the other hand, the sound sig and emotional factor of the MS1K is better suited for lower volumes than the oh-yeah-let's-rock MS1, so it's a tie in the end.

Would the MS1ki be greatly affected by using hd414 yellow pads instead of the GS1000 pads? If so what would be the effect?

With 414s, you only get 25% of the MS1000 effect, and a bit honky mids. Keep it stock or do the full mod, everything else is an uneasy compromise IMO.

Hello there, I have a quick question and I thought you guys could provide the best opinions.

I was wondering, how does the MS1000's compare to Grado's Sr225i's? I heard that they are similarly priced. I also heard that the MS1i's have the 125 Drivers in them but dont have the 8 conductor chord. Im assuming the SR225i's have better drivers and cables.

Is the difference in chord and driver significant?
