AKG K501 love...

Ok
add me to the list of lovers of the 501 .
these are beautiful and very musical. My biosciencegeek cmoy however is just not enough to power these bad boys, when i listen it feels like there is something being held back. I just purchased a ibasso p2 which is on its way and reading the reviews on this amp it sounds like it was made for the 501's. I remember reading somewhere (maybe this thread) about people re cabling there phones and wondering about the wiring. if you look here http://www2.akg.com/mediendatenbank2...5d21891b68.pdf it is clearly laid out for all the DIYers in the crowd.
i will post more when my amp arrives

i am a bit skeptical about power requirements, because these sound fantastic out of my carrie/grub. maybe ill get un-lazy and bust out my millett hybrid/gamma1 to see if it really makes a difference, but really have no incentive to right now as k501=bliss.

Hi,want to ask a question..do the K501 have the ring foams inside like the K601,K701??

Because the one that i gotten does not have the thin foam like my 601 and 701,thanks thanks

I would say that the K501 have just enough bass for classical music after just hearing them for 1 hour after gotten it yesterday :)

Dear all,

I'd like to ask how to replace the rubber band on both cups?

After some year's usage, the rubber band (link between the cup and the headband) becomes loose. I want ( and try) to replace it, can i DIY??

Thanks a lot.

I think there is a step-by-step procedure, with pictures, on AKG's website, showing the owner what to do to change the elastic bands.

That should help with the volume, but you may need more power than that can give to get the best sound they're capable of. I went through a few amps before I found one powerful enough to sound to my liking.
