Sigh, I saw your name expecting a full review.  How disappointing.....

Sorry to disappoint you, but AFAIK the version without mic/remote is still not available. I'm seriously eyeing these, but definitely don't need that superfluous thingy dangling in my field of vision.

Btw I just realized that AKG upped their MSRP from €1000 to €1200, as far as I am concerned a step in the wrong direction.

wow... i was very interested in these after visting AKG splash page, right up until that last post... $1000-$1200 euros... you could get a jh13/16 and still have change...

guess my next universal is probably going to be the xba-4

I had the opportunity to try these out at a local store today. General impressions I took down when listening to the Reference filter from my Fuze direct:

'strong bass but one note. mid bass hump. treble metallic at 6k. no recession of any frequency. good prat'

It struck me as a rather balanced earphone, however, there are flaws with the way it represents female voices - they sound too metallic and very similar to the way HD800 represents highs. The bass is not exactly the most resolving. I could not hear layers of sub-bass and mid-bass, it was mostly 'doof doof'. I'd liken the sound signature closest to the UM Merlin demo. They are definitely clear, but not worth 1000 euros imo. The fit was also quite irritating - wearing it over ear caused the cable to keep dropping off my ears.

Then again, please take my comments with some baskets of salt, as I have been listening to an Etymotic ER4S for close to 20 days and probably am used to a more 'bassless' signature.

On Monday I went in Stereo Singapore , I have tried AKG K 3003

My set up is iPhone 4 G with WAV music file , portable amp I use ibasso entry  level Ibasso Dzero

Sound overall very good like Ed  8  le in universal iem .

I like the balance filter

The bass filter : it is not so good  in my opinion , because overall sound quality a bit dark

The high filter : it is not  so good in my opinion , because the treble boost to much and the mid become sibilance

AKG K 3003 vs my Westone um 3 x rc

AKG K 3003 Win , I feel in my favorite um 3 x rc missing something in Sound quality

AKG K 3003 vs my jh 11 with whiplash Twag 2 recable

The two iem are at the same class and price range

My JH 11 more aggressive , and more speed , it is better for Rick music

AKG K 3003 more sweet , for long listening I prefer AKG K 3003

Now  my favorite iem are : JH 11. And AKG K 3003

I have already bought AKG K 3003. , I believe the SQ can last for long time like Ultrasone Ed 8 le

This is my personal opinion

I'm still trying to find out whether there will be a version w/o remote control. Their website says yes, but their sales people have been clueless and unhelpful so far, seems like they're completely indifferent to selling a €1000+ product, friggin' unbelievable.

The remote version does come with a short cable adaptor for use with any 3.5mm audio jack. Howver if you will never use it directly wiith an iPhone or iPod then for sure you will want it without.

Personally I might go for the remote and the options it brings. Hmmm...

Actually, no. It's more expensve than the FI-BA-SS. However I would not use the word "dethrone" to describe this phenomonon. Even Davidoff, kings of pomp marketing, abandoned this absurd claim to fame when they changed their cigarette slogan from "Most expensive cigarette in the world" to the slightly less stupid "Most exclusive cigareete in the world".

FWIW the FI-BA-SS is still the world's most expensive 'single balanced armature' headphone. Whoopie!

Really? Because in my country, the FI-BA-SS is still a few hundred dollars above the AKG 3003. Different countries different pricing I guess.
