'a lot of talk' is an exaggerated phrase , imo

5 people said they heard 'it', and the remaining 95 we found the K3003 fantastic

i would go with the laws of chances here :p

skerry had an offer from another head-fi'er to listen to the k3003. that would answer his questions about it, including how well the ba and dynamic drivers integrate.

tracyca, in a sea filled with fishes , catching a great fish is most times a mix of luck/insight/timing

thank your lucky stars that your sonic fish is a tasty one without many bones (sibilance and incoherence and other non desirable sonic traits)

i never heared anything that had incoherency problems... how does this sound most exactly?.. i mean, what should i expect?

it sounds like fear - and then you enter the room and the Boogeyman is not there.

There are two types of incoherency that I've heard:

1- bass from a dynamic driver that arrives milliseconds too slow and behind the BA mid/treble driver. The Astrotex AX60 hybrid I heard exhibits this. To me it sounds like its tripping over itself and the bass just can't keep up.
2- multi BA's with poorer implementation can exhibit massive suckouts/dropouts of frequencies. Sometimes this is easily noticeable and sometimes not. Just depends on how big the chasm is, if it's a big deal to a given listener. It can make something sound slightly dark or feeling of being contested or it can just sound really odd and completely disjointed.

I heard neither of these issues on the K3003i. I heard 2 different sets, one that I owned around a year. IME it is the best hybrid integration tuning I've ever heard with the 1+2 being up there with it too. Thats my 2C.

i am still pretty curious what a driver in-coherency sounds like... i mean, what should i expect in the worst case scenario. there were persons who were very displaeased by it, with more than one pair, but i never quite got an explanation of how it exactly sounds like... i am very very curious what it is, and how it sounds like.

skerry it sounds like demons rising from the earth to steal your money (and your soul)

it sounds like that 'no' you received from that woman you were in love some years ago

i could go on and on with 'how it sounds' but i think you get the picture

ps : skerry, a driver incoherency may just be a boogeyman meant to scare frightened people like you away , from the room of sonic bliss - you should buy a 10$ i-pod earbud instead and have peace of mind - no incoherency whatsoever there

For the most obvious that I've heard, check out the T-Peos H-100. It can be had for a low price nowadays, and will be the prototype example.

As for the K3003, it's in the top 3 best phones I've heard, even from just a technical standpoint. This coherency nonsense is simply psychological in nature, if I'm to be blunt.

very interested to hear the other 2 (although i am 100% happy with my K3 and not looking for alternative sound signatures)
