Just found the 32 ohm version of the DT 770's on amazon for 250!
 
I eliminated the HFI series and now have it down to either:
 
Ultrasone PRO 900, PRO 750, PRO 550
BeyerDynamic DT 770 (32 ohm), DT 660
 
Pro 900's would be 100 more than anything else on my list, at the moment I'm thinking between PRO 750 and DT 770.
Does anyone know which out of any of the headphones I have listed have the nicest sounding bass for hip-hop/rap?
 
I like the base on the QC3's and am trying to find something similar...I just also like very crisp and defined trebles/highs but have heard the PRO 750 are almost too high and piercing.

The Pro 900 is insane for hip-hop and rap!
I've got a Pro 750 coming up, but it seems (from reviews) to be much more treble emphasised than the 900.
 
As to the DT770, I can't tell anything, but I guess it wouldn't match the drops of the 900.

I really like the DT770, I would say it's close-ish to neutral but with a definite emphasis on bass while the Pro900 (haven't heard it, but from looking at frequency response curves) seems to be extremely bass heavy. It might have too much bass if you're listening to music that already has a ton of bass in it.
 
Reminds me of my roommate's car with a stock Acura sound system and 3 12" subs in the trunk...it had the uncanny ability to take any song and convert it into a headache.

The PRO900 has the bass crown out of this list. Also look at the Denon D2000. DT770 is the next one.

PRO 900's are out of the running. I'm trying to stay under $300 and the cheapest I can find them is $350
 
While the DT 770's look very nice, I'm now leaning more towards one of the ultrasones due to portability and the fact that they are able to fold up into the hard case provided.
 
Between:

Ultrasone HFI 780
BeyerDynamic DT 770 (32 ohm)
 
Any suggestions? They will mostly be for my ipod and will all be un-amped. They all get good reviews in terms of bass, but can anyone that has tried them comment on the clarity/highs/treble as well as sounding very full with a strong low bass?

Ended up going with the Pro 750's, just ordered and should be here by saturday.
 
I'm trying to use them without an amp for my iphone first but may order a portable ipod headphone amp...any suggestions?
