1964 Ears

That's not helping my wallet you know :)   I don't know about customization as by the time I add rush (impatient) and shipping (necessary evil) and possible tax (work of the devil) it stops being a "bargain" for the price and starts becoming what you'd pay for.  I'm not doing the custom thing as it just hasn't worked out as well as I'd hoped and not going through it all again.  I just wish I'd known about these earlier and could have saved a lot of time and trouble :frowning2:

I'm pretty much settled on the v3 right now.  Quads would have too much bass for me, and the v6 sounds too analytical for my taste.  At least from what I've read.

Any idea how long it's taken you Levanter from order to shipment incidentally?

On the subject of tips do you know which ones these take?

Cheers

PS that wood does look nice though :p

Yes I know what you mean.. tax in my country is 15% + 12%, freaking ****ty government..
I paid on the 19th and they shipped on the 26th, so excluding weekends it took 4-5 working days.
Unfortunately I forgot to asked what tips they use.. I guess I'll find out next week :p

Oh one other thing, I forgot to ask what finish you went for?  I really like the look of black faceplate and red wine just to be different.

Cheers

I don't think the universals can have the 2 tone colours.. assuming what Alex told me is correct. Probably best to clarify with Vitaliy.
I chose carbon fiber plate with translucent clear.
Quite boring Haha, but if I was buying customs I would have gone for translucent blue plate with clear tips.

Why not? The sound may not be up to par as customs but I heard for 1964 universals its almost close.
And I always have the option to reshell it if I want an upgrade or sell it if its not to my taste.
Not to mention sometimes I like to share my IEMs with friends, so they can listen to what high end earphones sounds like :)

I see.

You can still sell them if you get customs...the buyer just has to re-shell. I guess I'd just rather have something custom fitted for my ear to ensure best fit and sound quality.

Well maybe down the road in the future I'll get a custom, but for now I'm still in a sharing mood hehe.. but for sure a V6 universal will probably be the best or one of the best sounding universals out there. Though I'm curious how it will compare to TG334, AKG3003 and all the other high ends.

Hello all 1964er,

I am wondering which 1964 universals (V3, Q, V6) would be best paired with these sources, iPod/iPad4/Note2 and iPod/iPad4/Note2 with RSA Intruder?  Most if not all music would be from iTunes since I don't see what I listen to in HDTracks.  Music is 80% female vocals.
Any recs would be appreciated.  Love the customizations of 1964 and what makes me lean towards them.

Thanks!!

V3's (Unless you really want to fork out the extra for the V6's).

Thanks MistahBungle.  I guess since my source material is not the best and the V6 would be overkill, right?  I believe I read that V6 is really critical on anything less that 320kps.  Seems like you are saving me $$.  My wallet thanks you.  The RSA Intruder has balanced out, so would I just stick with SE?

V6 sounds great from my Sansa Clip. But I only use >320kbs. And you should too if you're spending that kind of money on earphones

I won't say where I get my music because most people here frown upon it.

I can't speak for the V3, but I know my V6 makes music less than 320kbps sound kinda crappy. It's very revealing of poor quality music.
