Well if the words of @twister6 have any accuracy, I'll still stick with the S1 for now.

"One might question if they even need MAM adjustable module with availability of S1 and B1.  In reality, S1 sounds like a fully closed MAM module, while B1 sounds like MAM module being close to fully open.  Basically MAM module has a flexibility to fine tune the sound/pressure, including individual non-synchronous adjustment of right/left sides, while S1 and B1 are like fixed presets.  For me personally B1 tuning hits a sweet spot and I’m planning to keep that module in permanently.  Also, having a “fixed” B1 module is great for those who are OCD about MAM continuous tuning since there is no click feedback."

I wouldn't trust any reviewer, only trust your ears.

Well for the person who can't get an opportunity to try a device first, I have to rely on reviewers to get an idea of how something performs.  And for that I read reviews and already know the people whose opinions gel with what I hear from comaprable earphones etc.

Also - as a reviewer - the amount of people I see "trusting their ears" when they don't volume match, and wouldn't know how to compare things on a level playing field - thank goodness for some of the reviewers out there who can give an objectively subjective review.

Just balancing the equation :)

@scottcocoabeach In regards to MAMs purchasing I currently don't have details on this. I'll check on this and will let you know early next week.

We found the scanning of shells to be problematic due to the transparency of the material. The technology is evolving quickly so that may be an option in the future.

Hi Alex,

There are already solutions for this, for example:

https://3dscanspray.com/

The open ports would just need to be covered with wax or tape to keep the spray from entering in the CIEM. Some other options can be found here.

What Paul said! Really it's a matter of reading various reviewers bodies of work, reviewing your shared experiences, identifying those who share your subjective taste. Numbers are helpful, but in the end it's about subjective preferences and biases of the individual reviewer. The vast majority of whom are honestly reporting what "they" hear. The vast majority of reviewers are honestly presenting their findings, the minority are influenced by advertising dollars (I know both types personally).

@ZMan2k2 The U8's are on their way, that's great! We can do a return on the extra S1 modules within 30 days.

Or if after trying out the S1, you feel the U8 could use leaner bass at times (defeats the purpose of a U8 but different strokes...) you can email info@64audio.com and we can help with exchanging that 2nd set of S1's for the B1's.

64 Audio Stay updated on 64 Audio at their sponsor profile on Head-Fi.

Haven't you owned and sold the U12? It should do everything the U8 can, plus a little more.

yes, and it was great.

However I plan on being careful about spending these days, so i will be happy with just having U8

I will have a review of my MAM up in a few days, after I've had more time with it. I also have S1 and B1 so I will be able to compare to those as well.
