    The primary reason is that they have been cutting in and out, but the second reason(perhaps just as important) is that I use them heavily in the gym and desperately need them rewired with cable that is more durable.    Who offers this service?  I need this done fairly quickly as my X10s are...

    or perhaps it was just your head got softer really though.... my 701s are very comfortable now. all fabric changes over time. very glad you are enjoying the fit now at any rate. they are great headphones.

    they soften up...don't require any oil or surgery. just time. ive got 2 pairs of them and both were uncomfortable to start but feel great now...they form to the body like a good pair of jeans or underwear.

    I won't comment on your assumptions other than to say i've worked in some of the best recording studios in Germany and the US, and have worked with and/or owned several of the most well-revered active models. My comment is based on many years of experience, and isn't based on emotion
