I'm looking for a recommendation for some sound panels for my living room. The room is too live; when I clap, it echoes. Where's the best place to order these?

thats easy!

send pics of your room to

Glenn Kuras along with the dimensions, what you hope to achieve, looks preferences, WAF concerns... they can do panels in any color..also have a new thing whereby they can silkscreen favorite prints/portraits/artwork onto the panels..

Seriously, that isn't called room treatment. Couches will haphazardly absorb frequencies. First reflection points should absorb high frequencies and you want bass traps in the corner.

Get in touch with GIK Acoustics or REAL Traps. I would do all GIK. Cheaper and works wonders in a room. My side reflections and front wall are 242 Panels. Back wall is covered with four 244 traps. Back corners are all mini traps by real traps. Front corners are mondo traps, also real traps.

Thanks for the info.

Related, in terms of the GIK panels, what color looks best? I know it is probably dependent on the room and furniture, but I want something neutral and I have white walls. Should I go for white or something darker?

White ones disappear nicely, but they do get dirty over time and it's a PITA to clean. I would do black as they are maintenance free and even look nice. Only downside, is that your room will feel smaller than it really is

Can't have it all.

If you can spare a bit more cash, get some nice art panels from GIK. They can do any digital picture you supply them. That will get some color in the room as well and do the job at the same time. Get the big tri traps for the corners. You will need two in each corner and you can stack em up.

Even if not for audio purposes, they look nice hanging on the walls.

Side walls: 242 (I use three on each side, no gaps inbetween them)
front: 242 (I use three)
back wall: 244 ( I use four of them)
corners: get tri traps (2 in each corner)
ceiling: 242 (get a pair)

I personally don't use anything on the ceiling as I have a cathedral ceiling. If I had a standard ceiling, I'd use the pair of 242 there.

Just for perspective and reinforcing importance of room treatments...
I'll take a $1000 system in a properly treated room over a $10,000 system in an untreated room.

Thanks! That helps a lot. Yeah, I have vaulted ceilings too so probably won't get something for that surface.

Now if I could only decide on the color. My girlfriend thinks black will look to modern and not classy. She wants the off white but I think that will look sorta ugly, like potato sacks on the walls. I wish they had a nice grey choice or something.
