Awesome, just wanted to add thanks for your hard work. I really enjoyed the read. Posts like these don't come along very often.

A Review of The Sennheiser HD-650's - Oh So Nice!

Quote: This is pretty much true of all headphones though. The SR-60 is another good example of this.   I'd generally agree with you, although I think you understate the differences a little. I am completely satisfied with the sound of my PX100s but I find them uncomfortable for long...

Looking to spend about $700 on everything and want to be blown away

I don't know why you want to spend 700$ when you're just moving up from earbuds... I think you might be disappointed.    If I were you, I would buy a pair of PX100s or SR-60is. They will blow you away and you might not need anything else. And they don't cost 700$.

Sennheiser HD800: Spray Painted Plastic and the New Acid-Washed Jeans.

It's not about what the material should be, or the cost. The issue is that it's pretending to be metal! If it has to be plastic fine, but painting it with faux-metal makes it look cheap regardless of the actual reason. In my mind it's an admission they could have used metal but were too...

Questions for the CEO of Skullcandy

The 'lowriders' (I think they're called? supraaural, semiclosed, about 50$ I think) sound pretty decent for what they are. Never heard any of their other headphones. Seems pretty silly to harp on stuff most of you have undoubtedly never heard, even given questionable aesthetics. But then...

Why do armature iems have larger harmonic distortion than dynamic headphones?

In addition to that, armature driver enclosures are built in such a way that the sound must reflect off a surface directly in front of the driver and through the sound tube to exit at a 90 degree angle to where the transducer is facing (this saves space). Armature drivers are generally poor...

How do the DIY amps compare to the commercial ones?

How do the DIY amps compare to the commercial ones?

To me it is clear that a 'comparable' commercial amp is going to cost more -- especially for professional casework and whoever is getting paid for the design. Dollar for dollar, only on parts and maybe some basic casework, DIY amps are better than commercial amps, but this ignores alot of money...

    AD900 vs HD580+PIMETA(or PPA if I DIY)

If you don't mind open headphones, I would go for the 580s and a pimeta. The pimeta is an easy to build and wonderful little amp, and the 580s are really in another class compared to the a900s (I prefer the 580 even unamped out of most decent headphone jacks). This is not to say that you will...

I'm sad... and I want to tell you why. From grados to nowhere?

I think part of the problem may be your expectations for IEMs in general... people here are very enthusiastic about them, and they're pretty cool little toys, but no IEM is going to come close to a fullsized headphone the quality of an SR-225, in any way... Nevermind even sounding similar...

    The Zune: A review.

Still not in Canada... You'd think they'd *want* to sell it to people who want to buy it. Nice review though. Looks like a promising unit so far. I hope its hackable to some sort of drag-and-drop and maybe if we're lucky use on non-windows OS. I'd buy one if I could get one here. Although if...

    Listened to SR225, RS-1, HD650

I hate to chime in with an "it's not the headphone's fault" comment but Creek amplifiers are notorious for high output impedance which causes horrendously bloated bass esp on high impedance headphones. Chances are though, HD650s are not for you, but I just thought I'd throw that out there...
