Going to the land of the rising sun.
Japan's power system uses 100V, but in the most cases you can use 110V(115V, 117V or whatever) devices without serious problems. Also S2IS costs approx. 50,000yen ($450 at current rate) at the net shops, you will be very lucky if you find lower price tag even in Akihabara. I doubt if you can.- Takashi

Name this instrument
Here's a link to download virtual theremin. Hit START to play. It'll be fun at least for 3 minutes trying to play "ouyiiioooo-oohooh" from Good Vibration, and maybe cover original Star Trek Theme. After that it depends on your creativity.- Takashi

Favorite Movie Quotes!
Oh, OK, another favorite-movie-quote thread. Here's one. (Tommy(danny Aiello) and Hawk(Bruce Willis) are paralyzed and shown USA Today with big letters that says "Louvre Robbed") Tommy: "Dammit, the Yanks lose again!" Hawk: "How'd the Mets do?" Tommy: (to the villains) "Can you turn to the...- Takashi

Northwest Airbus - Ety 4p plug right in?
I'm a World Perks Platinum Elite member and as far as I can remember all of the Northwest planes allows you to plug in 1/8" stereo mini plug. (Audio is not necessarily in stereo.) It's heavenly to use Ety's on the plane, but I gotta warn you that you have to bare with loud, crappy...- Takashi

Toilet Train your Cat?
My wife bought this (maybe not exactly this but the same shape and the same purpose) several years ago but never used it because it didn't fit our toilet seat. BTW I've seen a homepage of a person who successfully trained her cats to use human toilet, but her method was kinda vice versa - she...- Takashi

i would like to show head-fi my beautiful car
Let me get it straight. Your college ride is a teal Ford truck? Oh wait you said "car" so it's the white one on the right. Next time you take a picture, get rid of the garbage and try to put your car in the front and the center of the frame. Geez you're bad photographer....- Takashi

Does Anybody Know Why?
Thanks guys for the replies. Jasper's theory is very interesting and convincing. But Jahn's "Beatles did it and looked cool" could be so true considering they set so many standards. Probably the Beatles started it because Paul was lefty, and promoters adopted it with different perspective...- Takashi

Does Anybody Know Why?
Here's the question from the drummer of my band. "On live stage, why do guitarists alway stand on the right side of the stage and bassists on the left (looked from audience)?" Yes, Jimmy Page is on the right, John Paul Jones is on the left in various Zep live video. Joe perry is on the right...- Takashi

I wouldn't bother to look for the original thread, but it started out with someone posted a link to japanese site where a japanese audiophile's review of SA5000 (or AD2000) was on. When it was put through Babelfish, a word "感じる"(kanji-ru :verb, to feel) was some how translated as "feel the る"...- Takashi

Headphone Shopping in Japan, I want recommendations...
Not so many choice, actually. Etymotic ER-6i, Shure E2 or E3 are in your price range, you'll find lots of comments if you search in the forum. All three are a bit cheaper if you buy in U.S.- Takashi

car maintenance
I never owned Camry but am pretty sure it uses "drum in disk" parking brake, so your case wouldn't have any effect on main brake (service brake). This type of rear brake has both disk brake (as main brake) and drum brake (as parking brake) built into the same disk rotor. That way, main brake...- Takashi
