That's strange because I get full EAX sound through my setup? X-Fi Prelude -> Toslink -> Headroom Balanced Desktop+DAC I'm not even using Dolby Digital Live but the effects are 100% there. I used to have an X-Fi Elite Pro and I am definitely getting the same effects I always have.

My Prelude has a really low recording volume, It's a shame because otherwise the Prelude is amazing. I am currently using a Line 6 UX2 for recording (mostly guitar) but would much prefer my microphone to record directly into the soundcard.

I fully agree with kool bubba ice, I noticed an immediate improvement on bass. I have had the foam pads out for years with a bit of pantyhose to protect the driver but recently put the pads in and tried the coin mod. Right now I'm not sure if I prefer them with or without?

If you are connecting to your X-Fi via a computer speakers mini-jack then I would definitely recommend you try out your Sony receiver.

Yeah the Prelude is great, I used to have the X-Fi Elite Pro but upgraded to the Prelude. The improvement is subtle but it's definitely there, the bass had the biggest improvement I noticed.
