    USB soundcard for Linux

I have a few headphones including Senn HD600s but would probably be using mainly Senn PX200s as they are what I travel with. I guess I am willing to spend around £100. BTW wasn't the link you posted a list of DACs rather than USB sound cards ?

Paul is Dead, Just Do It..... The backmasking thread

Quote: Two teenagers came to the logical conclusion of 'double suicide', and almost destroyed the heavy metal community in the process. Not really, perhaps in the Bible Belt of the USA but in most other places in the world people just thought that that was a ridiculas excuse wether...

    Greatest Present-Day Band?

It was the Stones for all of the 70s and the 80s and now it has to be U2. Personally I can take them or leave them but no one else has the stadium filling power combined with longevity and talent that's recognised world wide. There are definately more arty bands and you can say that some band...

    Senn PX200 v PMX200

Thanks. I will mainly be using them for listening to when on a train or plane or in a hotel room. I therefor don't need the jogging abilty etc but have concluded that whilstr lying down a headband on the back of the neck is a bad idea so have ordered the PX200s.

Difference in sound between optical cables?!

People really belive that they can detect jitter induced by optical cables ! The speed of light in an optical cable is so fast that it would be impossible for the human ear to detect any slight variation. The transmitter on the other hand could induce jitter. This is a digital signal stream...

    Dual soundcards

Hi I have a PC with an origional Soundblaster Audigy in it. I was thinking adding an E-MU 0404 for music playback and leaveing the Audigy in for games. Would it be possible to setup XP so that Cubase and a CD /MP3 player app run through the 0404 and everything else runs through the Audigy. I...

A couple of questions regarding Lame

I know I know, its just the disc space involved is huge ! I just bought a 250 GB iomega drive today and using FLAC would probably fill over half of it before I got to MP3s ... I'll think about it though as your right I don't want to do this twice !

A couple of questions regarding Lame

Lossless would be nice but I dont have the disc space really. Lets see 500*700Mb /2 for FLAC = 175 GB at the moment ..... I still prefer the real CDs for home listening anyway. Thisis just for portable instead of a MiniDisc plaeyer or PCDP. I just found HydrogenAudio and there seems to...

A couple of questions regarding Lame

So I finally got an iPod and have just bought a nice 250G hard drive and am about to start ripping my entire CD collection. I don't want to do this again in the near future so I want to get it right. I am using EAC to RIP to WAV and then RazorLame to convert to MP3. I plan on using alt-preset...

    Bach sacred cantata cycle

OK The first three volumes turned up this weekend. I haven't had chance to listen to all of them yet (it's six CDs and a load of other stuff arrived too). Well so far all I can say is run don't walk to the nearest CD emporium and purchase these. The sound is luxurious, you could just sink into...
