Helping a friend with a DAC
Hey, a friend of mine wants a DAC (preferably with a built in headphone amp) that could handle two sources simultaneously: "A USB or coax SPDIF DAC and headphone amp with 3.5mm, 6.35mm, or phono input for additional source(s) OR a SPDIF DAC with both coax and optical input capable of handling...- Honken

Confused about what sound card to get
Alright, well, the DAC I'm getting is cheaper with coax so... yeah, I think I'll go coax. Anyways, I think I'm gonna get the Maya44 if it supports bit-perfect out over coax. As you said, it's a bit cheaper. Thanks again (for the third time? )! Edit: Or not, I see that Linux is officially...- Honken

Confused about what sound card to get
Alright, that sounds good. I assume that you use the S/PDIF coax in bitperfect mode? (Sorry, I've read a lot about this and it still confuses me. )- Honken

Confused about what sound card to get
Thanks for the suggestion! How does it compare to the "Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 HiFi" though? The price is similar, I'm not interested in 7.1 though. Edit: The EMU 0404 PCI is a bit cheaper than both Prodigies, is that a good card as well? The USB-version is popular, is it not? How's Linux...- Honken

Confused about what sound card to get
I'm looking to replace my SB Audigy 2 (yuck) card with something new to go a long with a future DAC (using S/PDIF). From what I've gathered the Chaintech AV 710 is really popular, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I don't really want to buy things from abroad and thus my selection is a bit...- Honken

How do you setup your own VPN connection?
Hamachi is probably the easiest way to do it. Oh and, use the "try the trial for free" option when installing. When the trial runs out, just click on the button, then close the process. Now you can use the premium edition until you reformat your PC.- Honken

Switching from CRT to LCD.....Suggestions???
Gonna edit your photos as well? Then the quality of the colors will matter and you should get a monitor with a S-IPS panel. 95% of the monitors produced today are TN panels, they're cheap and 'fast', but they lack the quality that you're used to on your CRT. Actually, you should always...- Honken
