Is it possible to setup your own VPN connection so you can connect to your home computers when you are at a remote location?

Without the added cost of extra hardware? Maybe there's a better way to share files over the net (privately)?

if you use windows just open port 3389 on your router and use remote desktop. not the most secure solution though. VNC also. There are hundreds of apps without using VPN.

Go with Hamachi. Low hassle and easy setup. Requires little to no configuration of your local network settings. Visit http://www.hamachi.cc and see if this is for you. BTW, the basic client and accompanying services are completely free.

Hamachi is probably the easiest way to do it.

Oh and, use the "try the trial for free" option when installing. When the trial runs out, just click on the button, then close the process. Now you can use the premium edition until you reformat your PC.
