Getting to know you – a Head-Fi questionnaire

What is the best rig you’ve assembled, past or present? I wouldn't call anything a rig, I have a couple portable sources and a few pairs of headphones that I switch between.  If I had to chose it would be the Samsung Galaxy 4.2 and V-Moda M80.   What was your favorite thing about that rig...

    Walmart

Half-Price Books has been my favorite source for cheap CDs here.  Most of my collection has come from their $3-and-under shelves, the discs are usually in great condition and I just buy packs of jewel cases to replace the ones that are scuffed or cracked.

Multimedia PMP with the best sound quality?

The Galaxy Player 4.2 sounds just fine, and it certainly does fine with the apps and internet.  It's actually very nice to be able to stream Spotify or podcasts directly on the device when I'm in the mood for something I don't have in my own collection.  You can get a 64GB microSD for about...

    "Mono Audio" Option on iPods

Purely for preference, maybe for people who want to listen to works that don't quite sound right or are distracting in stereo.

... WOW..... The Google Jelly Bean supports USB Audio out.....

At the very least this is a step in the right direction; we just have to trust device manufacturers to take advantage of the new capabilities.   It will be interesting to see what kinds of accessories will come out that take advantage of this feature.  It would be great to have some nice...

    Tivoli Audio Radio Silenz

Don't these look suspiciously like the MEElectronics HT-21?  Everything except the wood accents and the in-line control looks identical.

Pictures Of Your Portable Rig (part XV)

Quote:   As soon as there's a working root method for the 4.2 (it's running 2.3.6 which has so far been giving people trouble from what I've seen) that's exactly my plan; love voodoo sound on my TF101.

Pictures Of Your Portable Rig (part XV)

I got a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 the other day; it's replacing my HTC Evo since I switched back to a dumbphone (I'm almost always near Wi-Fi, so no sense paying $70 a month on service when $100 prepaid minutes will last me a whole year).  It sounds pretty good, and since it can take a microSD...

Review: Fischer Audio FA-003 - a neutral champ!

I just got mine from Jaycar today, 10 days after ordering; a bit quicker than I expected.  Already put in an order from mp4nation for a shorter cable, 2-3m is just too long for portable use.   Unfortunately I haven't heard the FA-003 or HM5 before, so I can't really be certain they're...

What is Rockbox? Is it worth doing it to my Sansa Clip Zip?

I've been using rockbox on my Clip Zip for about 2 months now, haven't had any problems at all.   Here's a good post with some info http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66292

    Organization

Here's my system for getting my music ripped/converted I rip my CDs to FLAC with dBpoweramp. Then I grab some album art off albumartexchange.com, or Google Images if needed.  I'll place two copies in the album folder; cover.jpg and folder.jpg (some software I used a while back would only...

Pictures of your computer rigs! Post them here!

I guess I should post more, apparently I've been lurking for 5 years       I've got plenty of room for upgrades with this stuff, but lately I've been buying music instead of equipment.   Lenovo x120e that pretty much runs MusicBee 24/7 when it's not at school --> uDAC-2 that...

    Clip Zip & E5 versus Fuze+

This is actually the guy that replied to you on Reddit,   The Rockbox port for the Clip Zip is certainly stable; in fact for me it has been more stable (given me no issues at all) than the stock firmware itself.       Edit: Holy crap, I've been registered with this account since 2007...
