Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread
I can run the 4z off my Note10 with no issues and it gets decently loud so... might just scratching its potential with a DAP but its more than enjoyable IMO- Dinrog

I did the mod too on both sides but only took away maybe 2mm on both sides lol did he cut 4cm off? 😂 Anyway, the mod made the thing much more comfortable..- Dinrog

Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread
Theyre quite similar.. i have both and the 4 might edge it out a tiiiiiny bit.. but nothing i could really nail down.. the 4 does sound abit more dynamic in terms of range to my ears and my pairs have a slightly bit different tuning overall with the 4z being a tad darker. (But then i heard a 4...- Dinrog

Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread
Guess i am lucky, had 4 different Audezes over the last 3 years and none had any issues.. i even dropped my X, 4z and isine to the ground by accident.. Recently sold my Empyrean, sound wasnt up to par to the 4 /4z. Would love to demo a 1266 tc tho.. but no store has them here :(- Dinrog

Audeze LCD-4
You can remedy the dip through EQ.. these have such low distortion its not an issue at all :) im afraid there isnt really another option as the range you need to boost is quite specific- Dinrog

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
While its true that the empy doesnt quite have the resolution for its pricetag, im actually considering one along or instead my 4z because i often have multihoursessions right now and the awesome comfort of the meze would be very welcome! I think i can stomach some tradeoffs..- Dinrog

Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread
I didnt think the mx4 was a noticable stepup over my x tbh. Maybe bit more speed but i was more into the 4z and 4. I have trouble nailing the difference on 4 and 4z till today honestly lol. The 4z had an overall more aggressive character to its sound, even tho they have mostly the same FR.. i...- Dinrog

Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread
Absolutely agree. But certain people have weird standards, take that oluv guy on YT slamming the i4 because it didnt have the exact soundsig he wanted.. Before i got the 4z, i wanted to upgrade my x and went through multiple demosessions comparing the utopia, 4 and 4z. Even had a negative bias...- Dinrog

Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread
Agreed on the 4Z sound presentation. Its not the most realistic interpretation of most sound genres.. but damn, it sounds phantastic with its superb resolution and the big, meaty sound enveloping you! And for some genres i find it to be close to perfect. Electronic Music is a dream come true...- Dinrog

Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread
I can see some people liking the Z1R for what it is, but i had it at home to compare against an LCD-X, 4z and He1k for quite a while. It was unfair from the getgo because open / closed but still.. There was something really wrong tonally with that thing. EQ also didnt fix it.. and then even for...- Dinrog

Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread
1k dip? Lol, there is a 3-4k~ dip but 1k is definitely not something i would bump up on audezes, theres plenty energy in that region. Rather lower by a db or 2. It probably also depends on specific model etc. By how much and where you need to EQ. I raise the FR by about 3db around 3.5khz on my...- Dinrog

Ive setup my own EQ based on the FR graph frome audeze since the plugin cant do a tailored one. Im fine with them stock but they are much better when i negate the uppermids dip, drop 1k by a bit and satisfy my bassneeds by couple Db more :p- Dinrog

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
I compared both over multiple visits to a demoroom :) The 4z had better resolution, especially in the base and treble, but the Empyrean was somewhat close. The Empy had a fair bit wider soundstage, while being a little bit worse in imaging. The 4z has more of a giant globe type of sound that...- Dinrog

Cant say on amps or cables, but since the 4z has such an insanely low distortion, you can just EQ the dip out for the most part.. i did that and its perfect now- Dinrog

I know its not optimal, since Audeze should actually make it an actual suspensionband.. but you can just shorten the leather yourself by couple milimeters and make new holes for the screws..- Dinrog

I cant share this opinion at all.. if anything the 4z has more present treble.. and no bit of grain on the 2 units i heard. I can maybe see more air but its a tiny amount if any..- Dinrog

Do what you feel fits your preference best! I had the opposite experience when i tested both ironically (bar soundstage of course, some things on par) but it might have just been an exceptional unit! :)- Dinrog

Btw, you can also just EQ with stuff like APO. Its even better if you do it with audeze FR graph next to you and tailor it for that unit..- Dinrog
