Guess i am lucky, had 4 different Audezes over the last 3 years and none had any issues.. i even dropped my X, 4z and isine to the ground by accident.. Recently sold my Empyrean, sound wasnt up to par to the 4 /4z. Would love to demo a 1266 tc tho.. but no store has them here :(

You can remedy the dip through EQ.. these have such low distortion its not an issue at all :) im afraid there isnt really another option as the range you need to boost is quite specific

Agree.. i had the MDR a year ago and i was shocked by how wonky that thing sounded.. got the IER couple months ago and to my big suprise it is better in almost evryway than the bigger brother lol!

While its true that the empy doesnt quite have the resolution for its pricetag, im actually considering one along or instead my 4z because i often have multihoursessions right now and the awesome comfort of the meze would be very welcome! I think i can stomach some tradeoffs..

Agreed on the 4Z sound presentation. Its not the most realistic interpretation of most sound genres.. but damn, it sounds phantastic with its superb resolution and the big, meaty sound enveloping you! And for some genres i find it to be close to perfect. Electronic Music is a dream come true...

Ive setup my own EQ based on the FR graph frome audeze since the plugin cant do a tailored one. Im fine with them stock but they are much better when i negate the uppermids dip, drop 1k by a bit and satisfy my bassneeds by couple Db more :p

Cant say on amps or cables, but since the 4z has such an insanely low distortion, you can just EQ the dip out for the most part.. i did that and its perfect now

I know its not optimal, since Audeze should actually make it an actual suspensionband.. but you can just shorten the leather yourself by couple milimeters and make new holes for the screws..

I cant share this opinion at all.. if anything the 4z has more present treble.. and no bit of grain on the 2 units i heard. I can maybe see more air but its a tiny amount if any..

Dont rotate! Its just a stiff fit. It does need quite a bit of force on mine..

Do what you feel fits your preference best! I had the opposite experience when i tested both ironically (bar soundstage of course, some things on par) but it might have just been an exceptional unit! :)

Btw, you can also just EQ with stuff like APO. Its even better if you do it with audeze FR graph next to you and tailor it for that unit..
