    Upgrading from HD555's to HD595's -- Woohoo!!

My son broke my HD555's, and I figured it was time to upgrade. A friend sold me his two month old HD595's for $125. What can I expect?

    First headphones after discovering Head-Fi

Sennheiser HD555's. Loved 'em, but they recently broke (cheap plastic!). In the market for some new open cans, and have a budget of no more than $200. Any suggestions?

Cable on my Audio Technica A500's has given up the ghost....

Can it be fixed? Should I send it back to Audio Technica? Take it to a local shop? Who repairs these things? This is my first pair of decent headphones, and I have no idea how to fix them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, David

    Head Phone Cable Problems

Hello everyone, I bought a pair of used Audio Technica A500's here a while back and now the cable isn't working. I have to jostle it around all over the place to get sound to come out of both speakers. I want to have the cable replaced. What's the best way for me to go about doing that...

Okay, let's get right to it then. I think I could spend $500 without the wife minding, but how much better will $500 of headphone goodness sound over my HD555's? Are we talking immeasuarbly? What?

I just wanted to say "Thank you"

I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate the resource that is head-fi.org. I recently received my first ever set of audiophile in waiting headphones (Sennheiser HD555's), and I must say that listening to music in the computer age has NEVER sounded like this to me. My goodness is it fun...

Why the majority of your CDs sound horrible.

Great stuff. Thanks everyone. The example on youtube of that McCartney song was pretty amazing. I'm brand new to the high-end sound thing, but dang was that eye-opening.

I just bought a pair of HD555's from a member here, and I love 'em, but they leak sound like a frickin' sieve!! I need some cans that will allow me to play computer games next to my wife who is watching a movie, or my daughter, who is playing a computer game without them being able to hear what...

    Noobie System Question...

I'll make this as brief as possible. I have a new kick booty computer system on the way (E6600 3.4 Ghz / 8800GTX / 150GB Raptor / etc., etc.) to me and everything is set except my sound system (and monitor, but that's not important here). The only thing set so far with sound is that I will have...
