Hello everyone,

I bought a pair of used Audio Technica A500's here a while back and now the cable isn't working. I have to jostle it around all over the place to get sound to come out of both speakers. I want to have the cable replaced.

What's the best way for me to go about doing that? Send them back to Audio Technica? Do it locally? Is it even worth it? How much is it going to cost?

Thanks much,

If they're not under warranty, it might be expensive and take a long time to have the factory service them.

However, a lot of people recable headphones themselves. There are a number of threads on doing this (check the DIY forum) with plenty of photos and discussion.

Also, several members recable headphones for others - I'm sure one of them would be happy to do it for you. Cost will depend on the cable you use. Labor isn't that bad, but I don't know how long it will take to get your cans open.

If you listen to and enjoy your headphones then you should fix them.
