The earphone in the photograph is a counterfeit. Shure has never manufactured such a product or permitted the manufacture of the same. Cheers to the Head-fi sleuths for sniffing this (and many others) out. Shure takes regular enforcement action to protect our customers against poor quality...

Our PA235 attenuator might be of interest, it's a thumbwheel volume control that adds resistance. I think it might accomplish what you're looking for. I can't guarantee that it's totally flat, it's primary application is airline travel where the headphone out found in the seats are way too...

The only controls on PTH are the on/off switch and the volume control for the microphone. So it won't present an additional load or impedance change.
