    ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

Linum Cables (linum.de) are quite remarkable. I recommend the Fender/Aurisonics lineup for IEMs as they have a signature to suits most tastes and their ‘heavy’ offerings are second-to-none. Also available worldwide afaik.

Same. I’ve had a DP-X1 since day one domestic release— I bought a square trade 3y extended warranty knowing there might be issues with the jacks, but the same knowledge prompted me to baby the unit, so the original jacks are still rockin. For reference, I use both the 3.5 and the 2.5 every day...

    ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

I’ve had both of the above mentioned units— sold the Sony to switch to the Onkyo day 1 of US release so I could buy an extended warranty to hedge against the jacks. The Sony is weak and cold relative to the Onkyo even in SE mode. EQ options are much more robust on the X1 as well. If you have...

Good day, all-- After the 1.8 update, did anyone else lose their External/Android Playists? All of mine are now empty despite a full sync (30+ mins) and no changes whatsoever in file paths, etc. A unusable option to 'Capture Into Internal Playlist' is more of a taunt than a feature... Much...

Yes, a set of custom 2.5s alongside many other AS ears and much commiserating with the guys in TN. The ambient port is much more for individuals who use these for playback when singing or playing brass/wind instruments where there would otherwise be a feeling of 'stuffiness' or occlusion due to...

Again, it's all about internal air volume, and that's modified by the depth of the screw. Each custom will have a slightly different total canal depth where the port is due to differing ear anatomy. What is for certain is that you can achieve greater volume with the screw still in the housing...

Following up, the screw would still be inside the valve and simply open enough for full exposure of the bass canal (you can see right down into it). Total removal of the bass screw goes beyond the intended maximum and sounds a bit weird. You can pop out the ambient screw with no issues relative...

Fender IEM (Aurisonics) Impressions, Reviews & Discussions Thread

There's a bit of a misunderstanding here: The bass port is just an aperture into which a screw is set. The depth of the screw in the valve determines the bass response. On a generic 2.5, there is a maximum 'open' setting, beyond which turning the screw simply damages the mechanism; However, on...

To answer a previous question, the bass dial/screw is located on the inner ear portion that fits your helix/tragus/antitragus. If you order an ambient port, it is situated adjacent to the bass port a bit further to the edge of the inner shell. Unlike the generics, there is no 'stop' for the...

Yes, as well as the option to add various extended warranties and optional drops/spills coverage etc. And my last price out at PJ immediately prior to the US release was ~$675 (72800JPY, remember Kaneda-san's fees and shipping) and I paid $799 shipped for the US version. Hardly the $300+...

Onkyo USA has been selling them domestically for about a week. Choose 'other sellers' via the main Amazon listing @ http://amzn.com/B01AWLQ1AY to access the $799 listing by Onkyo USA themselves (blue logo). Don't concern yourself with other retailers for now.   Cheers~

AFAIK, nothing announced about it. Failure rates must be lower than threshold economically or they wouldn't have pushed it to the states this way.   All good for now, but I'm not going to baby it. We'll see what happens, no stress =)

Correct, the US version I received was in the same packaging that serves every market and suffers the same QC issues. The advantage is the US warranty support and availability of 3rd party warranty extension plans, etc.   I couldn't bite on a grey market model for reasons discussed earlier in...

Andy and Dale are the same guys that always ran and engineered Aurisonics, but now they have Fender's money and an influx of human and technological capital. Nice to know it's really Aurisonics nestled inside Fender, as opposed to Fender coming in and firing everyone and getting all corporate...

The flagship is the FXA7.   The DXA and FXA5 notwithstanding, they all have the same bass output, but the FXA2 is the darkest and most bass-heavy of the lot due to the absence of a dedicated BA (or two). I personally love the sound of the FXA2, particularly given it's price point.

While I've not heard the 5 or 6, Andy informed me that the 6 is a retune of the Forte (which I have heard), and I would venture to say that since the Forte was quite unlike the 1+, the FXA6 will be unlike it too. Interested to hear the 5 as well, given Dale's disdain for pure BA designs in the...

Re: the 'prettier' assessment: I'm simply hearing more details in the 1k-3k range, and their presentation is pleasant to the ear-- never harsh or grating. This is most noticeable on the Kicker:FXA2 comparison, and less so on the Harmony:FXA7 comparison. I actually heard much less difference...

Yes, they have been retuned-- all of them. I previously thought they were just rebadged, but after speaking with Andy about the nature of the internal changes (air pressure, recalibration, efficiency) and then A/Bing Bravo : FXA, I stand corrected. What I can say about them is that the FXA...

Andy had mentioned to me that his wish is to resurrect the huge driver lineage at some point in the future, this time buttressed by the financial might of Fender. The issue is that, for now, the retuned Bravo line (FXA) is what they are hanging their hats on. Even customs have been pulled off...
