Managing playlists and applying updates would be the main things I think.  And when you create playlists it is very very nice to have a library viewer to navigate and sort. 

I'm not familiar with Clementine, sorry.   But there are a lot of good music players for Mac OS.  Check out Audirvana or Decibel, for example.

The Grado Mini Adaptor is a nice choice to scale down from 1/4" to 1/8".  

I have the same experience with occasional drops, skids, and such.  I use mine pretty much every day.  The screen is still unmarred, clear, and functional.  The body is a bit scuffed however and having a case would be an improvement.

There's no DRM or any other restriction on music you buy from the Pono store.  You can use it on any device...   So far as I know, Apple hasn't had DRM on its AAC 256 music for years.  So you should be good either way.

I'm not familiar with the PMx2; are you runnning singled ended or balanced?

I'm sure no one is missing this, but it i necessary to go into settings and select the balanced mode option each time you use balanced cables.  Sounds pretty weird if you happen to forget.
