You can't, the X1 does not have USB DAC capability.

I agree, I moved to Havi B3 Pro 1's which are amazing. I repurchased the UE600's with a mic so I could use them with my phone when it's more convenient as apposed to my normal portable rig: FiiO X1 -> Topping NX1 -> Havi B3P1

Same here, I had no clue what I was missing until I bought a pair of these a couple years ago. Unfortunately, they were stolen out of my car with some other electronics about a month ago, but I just ordered a new pair on eBay for $30. Can't wait to get them back!

I've always heard 75% volume on the source if you're using headphone out. I'd definitely get the FiiO LOD cable to use with the shuffle and 4S, it'll bypass the internal amps of the units and avoid unwanted coloration of the sound.

I use mine with line out mode, though I can't speak to using the EQ with it. I have yet to turn my EQ on. I would assume though, that you could use it with line out mode and EQ at the same time.

Without looking into it much, it's possible that the X1 could lack the processing power to handle the additional EQ bands.

I use my NX1 almost every day and haven't charged it for over 3 weeks now. Still going strong!

Nope. No optical out. I'm assuming that means there isn't a way to get a digital output from the X1 in order to use an external DAC to convert it to an analog signal.

  I used them with Havi B3P1's, using the NX1 with the X1 added dynamics to the Havi's, and I feel like the soundstage got bigger.

I can't speak to the e11, but I've used the NX1 with the X1 and I think they compliment each other very well. It's definitely a good pairing, and you can pick up the NX1 for so cheap that it's definitely worth a try!

I've been using my Havi's with my NX1 for about a month now and LOVE it. It's like a breath of fresh air when I turn up the volume on my NX1.

I haven't used those particular tips before, but from reading other people's experience with them, it sounds like they'd reduce the hi's and make it a little muddy.

 Nice! It's similar to what I currently use, which is a rain machine. Just plays the sound of rain all night - very peaceful.

The only thing that works for me is rain. Just steady white noise. I can't even do waves cause I end up just waiting for the next wave. Lol
