Questyle QP1
Does anyone know of a good USB cable for the QP1R? A few years ago I bought a cable that worked really well, but it doesn't seem to be available any more.- gollux1

Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings
Thanks, mate. After fiddling a bit longer, I got the damn thing to work: it turns out that Questyle's driver broke the DAC functionality, but Windows was able to automatically set up the device with no intervention from me.- gollux1

Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings
I'm having a hard time installing the QP1R driver on my new Windows 10 laptop, and I could use some help. (I'm running Windows 10 on a Lenovo Thinkpad x1 Carbon with all updates installed; my QP1R has firmware 1.0.9 installed.) I've downloaded the driver from the Questyle website, but...- gollux1

Thanks. 5 feet is a bit longer than I'm looking to carry around, though, and it seems that brand doesn't make a shorter cable.- gollux1

Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings
Can anyone suggest a good microusb cable to use with the QP1R? (A rankie cable was recommended further up the thread, but that model appears to be out of stock.) I recently bought a QP1R, but the cable that came with it loses the connection easily, and the other cables that I have lying...- gollux1

Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings
I just got my new QP1R, and I have a question. Has anyone figured out a good way to block the Line Out port? (I'm worried that I'll plug headphones in by accident, which would be a disaster. I bought these plastic plugs, but they deactivate the headphone port when inserted.)- gollux1

Thanks for this great review! I see that you've also reviewed the UM Miracle: how would you say it compared to the ES60? (I'm thinking of getting my first pair of CIEMs, and I'm deciding between the ES60, the UM Miracle, and the Hidition NT 6.)- gollux1

Westone W60 Impressions Thread
Thanks, @twister6 - and thanks for all your reviews, which are really excellent. I've actually been using the orange star tips, but the housing is still causing pressure against the antihelix of my left ear. It seems there's just not enough lateral width in my left ear to accommodate the...- gollux1

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, because my issue has to do with the length of the earphone's housing, I don't think a custom tip would help. Of course, if the whole unit was custom fit, that would take care of the problem. I may give Westone's ES50 a try; however, for the moment...- gollux1

Westone W60 Impressions Thread
Yep. In addition to the Shure olives, I ran through every tip that came included with the W60s (Star Fit and True Fit), and none of them seemed to help. Apart from plastic surgery to make my ear bigger, I'm not sure what else to try. I love the fact that the engineers managed to fit six...- gollux1

Westone W60 Impressions Thread
After going back and forth for months, I finally ordered a pair of W60s, which arrived a few days ago. I had tried them a couple times before, but with the right tips (Shure olives) they sounded better than I expected. I'm in love with the rich, warm detail that they offer; the trouble is that...- gollux1

Westone W60 Impressions Thread
Thanks for taking the time to chime in. This is really good to know - and it's different from what I was told by the Westone rep who e-mailed me. Fwiw, this is all I need to know to buy a pair. I demoed the W60 alongside its competitors last week (JH13v2, Noble Savant, CA Jupiter, etc)...- gollux1

Westone W60 Impressions Thread
I'm thinking of getting a pair of W60s, but I'm worried about the issue with the faceplates cracking. I wrote Westone to ask what they've done about the problem, and I was told that they have not change the design at all: according to the rep who wrote me, the breakage was cause by overtightened...- gollux1

Instructions regarding the installation of USB DAC driver on the X3 1st gen
I had the same problem this morning after upgrading to Windows 10 last night. In my case, this solved the problem: uninstalling the driver, disabling driver signature verification in Windows, restarting, and re-installing the driver. My x3 was also shutting down while plugged in via usb, but... -

using FIIO X3 as DAC / Amp, considering an upgrade
Sure, that seems like good advice. One reads reviews that make distinctions between similarly-priced gear, but it rings true that the differences would be pretty fine. Since I'm definitely a novice, it makes sense that the first step will be for me to get to know the headphones I have quite...- gollux1

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Thanks - that's helpful. I'd like to get another pair of headphones; since I might need a different amp (than the X3's) to drive a pair of open cans, one of the things I was wondering is whether it would make sense to get an amp first. But it's a good reminder: since I'm pretty happy with...- gollux1

I posted this question in its own thread, but it occurred to me that you guys can probably help me out: I like my X3 a lot, both as a standalone pmp and as a DAC / amp from my laptop, but I've recently been thinking about upgrading. Does anyone have experience comparing the X3 to other...- gollux1

using FIIO X3 as DAC / Amp, considering an upgrade
I just got my first pair of headphones, the Ultrasone PRO 750, and I'm wondering how much improvement I will get from upgrading my DAC / amp setup. I have the FIIO X3 PMP, which I connect to my laptop for use as a DAC / amp. Does anyone have experience comparing the X3 to other...- gollux1

looking for full-sized headphones that sound like the Etymotic hf5
Just checking back in to report: on Steve's recommendation, I got the Ultrasone PRO 750, and so far I'm pleased. The details is quite good; the only thing I'm on the fence about is the bass, which seems a bit boomier than I'd like. (In the back of my mind, I'm tempted to get the Focal Spirit Pro...- gollux1
