status update: On my first charge with rockbox I got about 12hrs of playing FLAC files. With the stock firmware/OS I get about 16-18hrs of playing ALAC files. Recharging seams to take about the same time as with the stock firmware/OS.

So I took the plunge and rockboxed my ipod 6G rev2 160GB.   WOW! A major jump in audio quality!   A ton of option to play with too and actual EQ.

Is there still battery life issues (4-6hrs)?

I can say the PA2v2 works great with the DT770's. I used my ipod+LOD+PA2V2+DT770 at work for about a year and everything sounded great. With the PA2V2 you have to use rechargble AA batteries because normal AA screws with the amp and makes it sound bad.
