How could I forget about custom IEMs...?

My UE-5c's broke almost two years ago, and instead of getting them fixed, I threw them in a drawer and used my old e4c's. I finally got around to fixing them, and they came back from UE today.    I just plugged them into my iPod Classic, and wow...what have I been missing? I always thought...

Ultimate Ears Custom Warranty and Repair Experience

I sent my UE-5c’s in for repair, and since I haven’t read anything about peoples experiences with UE Custom warranty (only their consumer line), I thought I’d share my experiences.   I bought my UE-5c’s around this time four years ago (or has it been five?!). About a year back, the left...

There's a HOLE in my custom IEM...

I'm going to send them into UE for repair (Jeanette from UE sent me a repair form to fill out and send with them), but I'm going on a pretty long trip next week, and really need my earphones with me. Seeing as how someone else also has a hole in their 5c's, is using them carefully for another...

There's a HOLE in my custom IEM...

I've had my UE-5c's for about three years now, and recently I made a post about a crack developing in the right monitor. Today, to my dismay, I noticed a HOLE in the bottom of the IEM. I don't have a camera with me, but if you're looking at where the cable conncets, and look to the right, there...

    Upgrading from UE-5c customs?

Hey guys, I used to be much more active in the earphone/headphone world, and about five years ago I got my first IEM (e2c), and worked my way up until about three years ago I grabbed the HD-595, along with the Ultimate Ears UE-5c custom IEM. I quickly returned the HD-595 (didn't like them...

Ultimate Ears Custom cable line faulty?

Maybe it's just me, but I've had my UE-5c custom's for more then two years now, and I'm on my second cable. The only reason I changed cables is because of oxidation in the first set...it still works. I use these guys quite a lot both indoors and out, so I'm not sure whats going on with you.

    Custom IEMs for Teenagers

I know this is a bit late, but I got my UE-5c's when I was sixteen, and I'm eighteen now. The right ear is slightly different then it was two years back, but they still work great and it's not a serious problem. I'm thinking about sending it back to UE to have it refitted, which shouldn't be an...

Impulse Buy: Grabbed the HD595 + Total Bithead

I've been listening a little more to my 595's, and things are starting to get better, but two things concern me that will not change with no amounts of burn in: 1). Comfort. People say these are the most comfortable can's on the market, but *******, they are fatiguing. Makes my ears warm...

Impulse Buy: Grabbed the HD595 + Total Bithead

Well, I got the 595's today with the Total Bithead, and as of right now, I'm 100% unimpressed. First off, despite what other people think, I found the 595's to be very uncomfortable, and made my ears red after only a few minutes of listening. I do realize that it takes time to get used to them...

Impulse Buy: Grabbed the HD595 + Total Bithead

So I've been toying with the idea of getting a set of cans to compliment my custom UE-5c's, which I'm currently using unamped. It's been about a year of considering cans, so I finally whipped out the credit card and ordered a pair of HD595's and the Total Bithead last night. Should be getting it...

Would I be happier with an amp or the UE-10's?

I currently own the UE-5c's, and they are sheer bliss when listening to, but I do seem some places where they can improve, mainly in the highs, and the soundstage feels a little weak to me. I'm currently using them unamped from my iBook and my iPod, which I realize isn't the best source, but...

Good God...how can anyone listen to the e2c's?

Maybe I'm a little spoiled with my UE-5c's, but I left them in school over the weekend so I'm using my e2c's that I had lying around right now, and this is an ear massacre. It's tinny, undetailed, completely lacking a soundstage, and has no highs or lows whatsoever. I miss my 5c's .

How much leakage do open cans give?

I'm thinking of grabbing some HD650's, but this noise leakage problem worries me. I am often annoyed when I can hear other people's music when I am around, and if it's that bad, I'll just stick with my IEM's. I realize that cans are really for at-home use, but even at home, I don't like...

Would I be better off with a new iPod, or an amp?

I've currently got Ultimate Ears UE-5c IEM's, and I'm very happy with them. I'm using them unamped from an iPod Mini, and while the quality isn't completely perfect, it is hard for me to find many complaints with it. However, in typical Head-Fi style, I'm looking for an upgrade. My iPod Mini has...

Looking to spend $400 for headphone + amp, what do I want?

Thank you VERY much for your help, everyone! I am definetly looking to get an amp for a setup like this; I feel like it would be a waste otherwise. Minimus, I am liking the Original Master a lot; it looks very solid and the reviews I've read seem very positive. Have you ordered from AAA-Audio...

Looking to spend $400 for headphone + amp, what do I want?

Hey guys, I am currently the VERY happy owner of the UE 5c custom IEMs, but I'm getting a bit of a upgrade itch, and am looking for a set of full-size headphones for home use, but I'd still like to be portable as well. I am thinking I'd like closed cans, because leakage is a concern, and I...
