DT990 Pro Impressions Thread
This sounds even better in FLAC-True Lossless format on 250ohm DT-990s. You can find the whole album on a torrent file sharing site,... Favorites are Final Fantasy VII - One Winged Angel, Chrono Trigger - Main Theme, Luigi's Mansion - Main Theme, Batman Arkham City - Main Theme, and Kingdom...- erick151

If you are worried about not liking them, get the Pros. Less hit to the wallet. If you are pretty sure you are going to love them, get the Premiums. You'll never regret it. I'm stuck with the Pros, which is fine, but I wish I wasn't such a cheap person sometimes. The aesthetics alone are worth...- erick151

I don't have the premiums. But if you can comfortably blow an extra $80 without hurting, go for it. I love this headset and only wish I'd gotten the premium. Also, I imagine the "less clamp" claim is bs since the clamp will adjust to your head anyways. My pro's clamp has already broken in.- erick151

Well I doubt it has anything to do with my SBZ. I'm pretty sure it's just a difference between my ears and yours. I don't listen to music very much unless I'm in the car and I don't go to concerts. All my sound has been at low levels with low frequency range and ohm headsets on realtek onboard...- erick151

Something strange has occured for me regarding the comfort. I don't know why, but they don't seem to be as comfortable as they were out of the box? Is it cause my hair has grown a little bit longer or is it loss of clamp? Ear pads squishing in? I don't know. I'm tempting to try...- erick151

Do you think if you painted them they would sound different? What about closed cans? I think I could use a white laundry pen and make these look pretty darn nice,... but what if I get ink/paint on the cloth in-between the grill? For that matter, what if I used something like scotch-guard on...- erick151

If you are going to go through all that why not just custom spray paint them. I'd like to see red and blue Optimus Prime style.- erick151

Build quality and reports of a slightly better sound(same signature) probably from those who can "hear" $100 and $10 cable differences suggest otherwise. But honestly, why? Vanity? They aren't that pretty, but you could chrome them out if you don't think there is a difference in quality.- erick151

If you are totally against having to EQ them down until you adjust, I'd be interested in the DT-770 Pro or the DT-880 if I were you. The treble texture on the DT-990 is really worth a listen though. For gaming, the comfort level is just insane and they are mostly fun. There is a thread with the...- erick151

Best Bang for My Buck! Help finding a PC gaming headset under $50-100
So the SBZ, while cleaner, did not improve upon the Gemini HSR-1000s very much at all. I would still give them a 5/10 for sound. Maybe if I was being generous they'd get a 5.25/10, but that just seems like a little too much charity when I give the ATH-M50 a 7/10 and free ear-buds as 1/10. So 5...- erick151

DT990 brightness?
Does the frequency not have anything to do with my ear fatigue and having to EQ the top two khz in my Sound Blaster Z studio down -5db and -7db? People with the D2000 which have a top end of 45khz, 10khz higher frequency response, say they can't stand the shrill of the DT-990s,... Does this...- erick151

I've had the DT-990 pro 250 and SBZ shielded version for a week and I think they sound great together. As far as power is concerned, I can't go up much past 50% which I think would be expected since that card can supposedly handle 600ohm headphones. The crystalizer of the SBZ pro-studio...- erick151

Equipment needed for powering DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm headphones, but still having "Virtual Surround"?
This is at 40-50% volume. She has very sensitive ears(even tho they tiny, lol). "Insane bass for an open headphone" is actually an understatement and I would easily be annoyed if someone was rocking these in a waiting room or somewhere semi-quiet. I really need a closed alternative...- erick151

Equipment needed for powering DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm headphones, but still having "Virtual Surround"?
Thanks for the update. I just recieved the same setup yesterday and I'm very happy with it so far, but will probably have to return the DT-990s as I didn't realize the level of sound leakage. :frown: My wife with her ATH-M50s can hear my sound even when she is listening to something at a low...- erick151

So I just figured out that my onboard Realtek 892ACL had Absolute Pitch 192khz/24bit True BD Lossless Sound. I've decided to get rid of the Xonar DG as I ran into some strange bugs. Feedback a couple times and non-implementation of changes during playback. Maybe a buffer would have helped, but this card just seems to struggle. I'm going to try the SoundBlaster Z.- erick151
