Mainly a comfort thing. The 225s are just not great to wear for hours straight, day after day. Espescially now that the D2000s I have at home have me throughly spoiled.

I've been thinking about this too. Got about 300 hours on my stock tubes for now, so I'm thinking of maybe getting a new set. Not looking to drop a lot of coin, $20 per tube or so is about my limit. No real complaints about the stock tubes per say, but want to get a nice set in for daily use...

I'm using amarok. CDs ripped with Sound Juicer to -q 9 Ogg Vorbis (around 300kbs). ALSA should treat the sound ok. Might want to consider an outboard DAC. PC audio tends to be less than stellar (and Creative isn't really audiophile grade stuff either). I'm going to be using the DAC section of my Zero to drive mine.

Because an iPod is designed to power small earbuds. Trying to drive proper audiophile grade headphones with it directly makes about as much sense as sticking a lawnmower engine in a sportscar...not enough power for the job at hand.
