Beyerdynamic TYGR 300R
Eventually I decided to buy the foam discs AND the tygers. If anyone cares, the foam discs don't do much on the 990s, a small difference but still a small improvement, treble spikes get tamed a bit by using the amiron foam discs, but honestly I can barely hear the difference in most tracks...- MRK1

Beyerdynamic TYGR 300R
Gentlemen, is it true that these are basically gamer-ified DT990s? Because I have the DT990 250Ohm, I like them but they lack in booming bass and have a sharp treble, two issues that are apparently "fixed" with the TYGR. I was about to buy the TYGR300 on Beyer's website, but then I discovered...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD599 - first impressions.
Oh wow, this thread is still around on the first page of the forums :D I wonder, do you think the impressions I posted 5 years ago are still accurate today? Back then I didn't really knew much about audio (and probably I don't know much even today). Anyway, I still have my original pair and use...- MRK1

The ancient Creative Fatal1ty headset, why do I like them so much?
I have a pair of Creative Fatality that I got nearly 20 years ago, which are a crappy plastic gaming headset (with removable microphone that I long lost) named after some silly "pro gamer" fool that I know nothing about outside of memes that make fun of him and the god awful ridiculous...- MRK1

Sony MDR-1AM2 - Impressions Thread
I bought these headphones after finding them for 130€ on Amazon Italy. Received them a week ago, and... I totally dislike them. The bass is thumping and loose while the highs are piercing, VERY fatiguing to listen to even at low volume where everything just sounds muddy. The mids are nowhere to...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD599 - first impressions.
I'm back to this thread after nearly 3 years. I confirm what I said, the 599 is just great all around, these are really versatile, and that's why I like them so much; they sound great out of just about anything. What's surprising is the amount of bass these have, despite being open, they dig...- MRK1

Earbuds Round-Up
Cool, I'm glad you liked them. I was surprised at how decent (good?) the sound was for a bud I bought just "because it was the cheapest pair with a mic". Unfortunately the mic is a bit crappy but the sound is really good for dirt cheap buds like these (they cost 8€ here, while a Monk costed me...- MRK1

Earbuds Round-Up
I have both generations of Monk buds! Both sound tinny compared to these. Especially going back and forth the difference is big. The mysound has much deeper bass even when used without foams while retaining acceptable clarity and soundstage imo. Please let me know if you like them when you get...- MRK1

Earbuds Round-Up
I haven't lurked here in ages but I recently came across a ridiculously good sounding pair of earbuds. I bought them because I needed a cheap pair of earbuds with mic to toss around without much care, so I expected nothing, but man these delivered to the point I got rid of my 5 pairs of VE Monks...- MRK1

Need help - HD 599s
Dude, seriously... I stumbled upon this thread which is fairly old but I must reply because I was in the same situation as you a long time ago when I was into gamer crap. Your current 7.1 headset is utter s*** and you should do yourself a favour and getting rid of it. "Surround" headsets are...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
Anyone here got or just auditioned the HD599? I got the regular 598 some time ago and posted here about the fact I didn't really like them. The 599 on the other hand was enjoyable from the first listen for me. I think the 599 has more bass presence that hits harder and goes deeper too, and also...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD599 - first impressions.
150€ is a good price, I would go for them if I were you. The 599 definitely has a deeper and more engaging bass than the 598CS, which was pretty surprising to me. I had the same reaction as you when I got the original 598, very flat and unengaging (even though I wouldn't say they are "flat" if...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD599 - first impressions.
I'm going to add a few more details even though nobody seems to care about these cans for some reason. I've been using them on and off with the 598CS and man the 599 is far superior in every single aspect. Even the bass is much better defined on the 599, it goes deeper and is also faster and...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD599 - first impressions.
I just bought these in a moment of madness for 180€ on Amazon during Black Friday. I searched around the internet and it seems these are still not very well known, maybe because the price is outrageous and everyone is still using their old 598. Anyway, my first impressions after a few hours of...- MRK1

Really disappointed with the gigaworks T20
So, I was bashing these very hard some time ago, but I realized that for some reason, my room had a weird reverberation going on, maybe due to the low ceiling or something else, especially in the area where I have my computer. As I was literally packing them to send them back to where they came...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD 598 CS Closed Back
I've been using these for a while and they're ok, but lately they just kill my eardrums really fast. Not sure what is up with this bs, maybe I have somehow damaged my hearing and now everything that isn't my trusty old VE Monk (at low volume) is too much for me to handle. I've read in this...- MRK1

Really disappointed with the gigaworks T20
I'll give you an example of a song that is nearly covered in wub when on all of my headphones including the 598CS and the Sony MDR 1A which are slighly bass boosted don't have the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrCqrNKGlLI Maybe this is a poorly mixed track (even though I doubt...- MRK1

Really disappointed with the gigaworks T20
I'm resurrecting this thread because I 100% agree with everything said here. I bought the T20 Series 2 because I needed some generic speakers, I read a bunch of reviews on Amazon and people were complaining about "hurr not enuff base durr" and I'm definitely not a basshead so these would have...- MRK1

Earbuds Round-Up
What's the latest flavor of the month earbud around here? Been out of the addiction for a while. My favourite by the way is still the Auglamour RX1, the clarity, detail and balance in these is ridiculously good and so is the build quality. WAY better than the Monk imo. All of this using the...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
I'm curious to know, at what kind of volume you listen to the 598CS? On my PC (Realtek chip) I can't raise the volume over 15% or they'll be deafening (bonus, I can 100% the volume and use them as neck speakers). On my phone (OnePlus 3) I can't raise over 50%.- MRK1

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
I just found my old Aqua - Aquarium CD laying around so I dusted it off and gave it a spin with the 598CS and man this genre sounds excellent with these. I've listened to this crap countless times but I don't remember it ever sounding as good as on the 598CS. The voices are just fantastic as is...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
I agree with you man, that's the same thing I felt when I got the 598 open, everything sounds distant and veiled. Preferences I guess. I didn't like this sound at all, but most people seem to love it. Maybe if you only listen to classical and live music you will appreciate the sense of space...- MRK1

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
These 598c can blow my eardrums at 25+ out of my PC and 50+ out of my phone. The first day I got them I raised the volume a bit too much (25 to 30 out of my PC with loud music) and I felt my ears a bit clogged the entire following day. This guy who used max volume and +15db on bass is...- MRK1

Actually you are right. I remembered the Urbanite also had the driver glued shut. Thought it was weird but it seems like they indeed do this if the Urbanite was glued as well. I wonder what's the reason. Sealing the driver with a piece of plastic and a sloppy hot glue job didn't look right to...- MRK1

You need to pull a bit hard but gently and they will snap out of the earpieces. Then there are 3 regular screws to remove. Just like on the older model.- MRK1
