Just purchased Schiit Lyr and Bifrost!

Pardon my ignorance, but does anyone know if it is possible to drive IEMs with the Lyrs? Given their power output, they seem to be quite alright with regards to current. Just not looking to fry my Sennheiser IE8s!

Peachtree DAC IT vs Schiit Bifrost

Don't mean to be digging this up, so has anyone compared the Peach vs the Bifrost on decent speakers (e.g. Martin Logans/CM9s?)   Just wondering which would be better in a speaker set up.   Thanks!

    Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread

Hey James, yes I concur with your assessment. It is indeed technically more challenging since the manufacturers have to somehow direct the sound waves away from transducers that are essentially perpendicular to one's ears. Not easy fitting everything in! I agree with you about the soundstage...

    Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread

Haha, yes James. Glad you picked out the disappoint in that wish of mine. I don't see how it's something that can be achieved in the near future, but that's just my opinion. If I may, even the HD800 on end-game amps Burson/Beyer etc, didn't quite titillate my senses as much as equivalent priced...

    Disappointed at sennheiser IE 80!!!!!

Now that is something I've been wanting to hear for quite a while! The 535s have always been a benchmark and it's good to hear that the IE80s are doing a better job. Am frankly surprised about the treble. Guess the IE8s must be quite a bit behind their successor since the IE8s were slightly...

    Audio-gd NFB-5, 9 switchable filters

Perhaps that's why... Thanks though for the tip. But the NFB5 and DI have at least 200/250 hours of gentle background music since they were given to me as a present three months back. They still sound fatiguing esp with choruses and full orchestral crescendos. The low gain settings expands the...

    Schiit Lyr Shipping! Impressions?

Okiedokie. Thanks! That said, do remember trying out the IE8s with tube amps whose names I've now forgotten. They were good stuff.

    Schiit Lyr Shipping! Impressions?

Quote: Thanks WNBC :)   Have you tried them with Hifiman Planars (or other electrostats) btw? Would love to someday invest in a pair, but am currently in two minds about divesting myself of my headphone gear :(

Quote: Oh dear. Thanks for the suggestion. I do wish that other manufacturers (e.g. shire) would try to incorporate the senneheiser's soundstage with their quadrillion-driver-clarity...  That would be something.    Anyhow, not sure if i should continue investing in headphone gear...

    Sennheiser IE8 Impressions Thread

Heyo Burtomr,   Appreciate the compliment, but nah, nothing 'perceptive' at all!   Hmmmm, I do recall trying out silver cables shortly after I bought them at least a year and a half ago. I do agree with the increased soundstage and everything, but that  was to be had for close to $200...

New Bel Canto C5i? Was set to pull trigger on Anedio, but now....

Quote: Hey Ripcord,   Looking forward to your thoughts on the Sierras! Am sure you'll enjoy them greatly.   Have heard everything about them but not actually heard them...  Looking to purchase them for my study desk, but currently stuck between those and the Vapor Breezes which run...

New Bel Canto C5i? Was set to pull trigger on Anedio, but now....

Hey guys,   Hope I'm not intruding! But I was doing a recent comparison of Class D amps, and I think that if you're nifty with your hands, building a Hypex based amp is going to get you a lot more bang for your buck.   Friend built an Ncore recently at just under the price of the C5i...

    Audio-gd Digital Interface

Quick impressions:   The DI DSP is a clear step up from the DI V1.   It is much clearer with better instrument separation. Soundstage is slight wider, though I'm not sure you'd notice if you're busy enjoying the increased clarity!   Many others have noted (and sometimes only noted)...

    Audio-gd Digital Filter (flavor switch) for NFB5, NFB9, NFB10se, NFB3.1

Hmmm, i often find the various filters quite a bit of a hassle, admittedly. However I do appreciate the option provided by Kingwa and kudos to him for the massive range of well-executed products.   I concur with yupoet's quote regarding the sonic differences between the filters.   With...

    Audio-gd NFB-5, 9 switchable filters

Hey guys,   Has anyone used the NFB-5 as a preamp for stereo amplifiers?    Also, I am finding the amp slightly harsh and fatiguing, especially with anything more than mezzoforte. String on orchestral pieces come to mind...   Anyone sharing the same opinion?

    Sennheiser IE8 Impressions Thread

To add my tiny two cents, the IE8s have been robust and hard wearing as a daily pair.   In a nutshell, I like them over their competitors for their soundstage and natural timbre. I am a speaker person (heaven-forbid on this forum!) and use the IE8s only when out and about or when I just need...

    Sennheiser IE80's Impressions Thread

Hey guys,   Not too sure if this is the right thread, or if this question has been previously answered, given that it's already 170+ pages...   I have a pair of IE8s and I do like them for their soundstage and their natural timbre. However, they are not the last word in clarity.  ...

    Disappointed at sennheiser IE 80!!!!!

Oh dear... Did you upgrade from the prev gen IE8s?   The bass tuning is not the most sensitive of adjustments, but I do notice a difference when twiddling with it regardless of source or source file (iPhone or Audio Gd NFB 5, internet radio at 160kbps or 192/96 files).   Just be gentle...

    Schiit Lyr Shipping! Impressions?

Hey guys,   First post on headfi!   Was just wondering, has anyone tried the Lyr with IEMs? The sennheiser IE8 in particular...   Do understand that the IE8s are described as 'dark' by some individuals, but I believe they're natural.   I am curious if they are tonally a good...
