comparing onboard to other DACs?
It seems that the ASUS Maximus V Gene's audio design paid off in spade, with RMAA giving one of the best results to date with the ASUS Maximus V Gene. It performed so well, in fact, that I don't think RMAA did it any justice with these results, as the audio is one of the best I've seen ever...- Migi06

Great post THUMPs up!!1 All in all.. So everything could done via software than pre-configurated DSP chip? Creative abandoned CMSS-3D and replaced it to THX. Also X-FI line are starting to disappear (****ty recon3D..) and no famous X-Ram anymore- Migi06

Yeah I too want Xear 3D surround, but hoping that there is coming cheaper sound card wich support...- Migi06

DAC and amp or Xonar STX
Thread starter have hissing noise, like many others do with DG/X. I have pretty high level comp, but don't know if my overclocks or budget MB (asrock) makes "the thing" + my super sensitive XB500. The hizz noise comes only if you use the amp. ODAC is failure for gamers, cant use surround stuff...- Migi06

DAC and amp or Xonar STX
If you need Dolby Headphone or other virtual surround (THX Surround or SRS TruSurround HD like many motherboards uses now days), then you could use optical out and external DAC/AMP.. I´m using DG optical --> X-fi USB HD and dont have any hissing + Dolby Headphone works. Easiest would be...- Migi06

Recommend Me a Headphone a Bassy/Immersive gaming experience.
DT 770 has way too bright treble which may give a little headache. I´m coming from XB500 and tried DT770 pro 80. DT770 had too much treble and lacking mids and upper bass (not sure). DT990 could be better if treble isn't too harsh. I´m going to test h598, q40 & DT990 pro..- Migi06
