    Seriously big memory foam tips?

As in larger than the comply large (so more than 13mm). Does such a thing actually exist? Preferable with a 4mm bore hole. Who can point me in the right direction?

bluetooth receiver for high impedance headphones

I'm considering a bluetooth receiver for my DT770 250 ohm as a solution for occasional usage with my phone as a source. However browsing around it seems that most lack the power to drive something with this impedance. Has anyone any experience with things like a Fiio BTR3 or 5 or a Hiby W3 with...

upgrade from Fiio X1 mk2 to Fiio M6

I'm considering this upgrade. The X1 is doing fine but the battery is aging and I miss a functioning bluetooth sometimes. So I'm considering the M6. Has anyone done this upgrade? Or listened to these side by side?

Beyerdynamic lagoon ANC vs DT770 size

Hi group, I'm looking at an ANC headphone and considering the lagoon ANC. I am wondering if there's anyone out there who has this and the 770 and can tell me how the cup size is of the lagoon as compared with the 770? Reason I'm asking is because I apparently have big ears, can't even fit...

    Any Pioneer SE-MS9BN owners here?

This headphone is dropping in price. One thing that the documentation isn't very clear on.... can you use ANC while using a cable connection?

insane price differences between regions for AKG products

This afternoon I was in my local mediamarkt, a European chain of electronics stores. Had a go with the AKG N700 and found it surprisingly decent but not quite worth the 280 euro price tag. Quick google when I got home showed me that the AKG USA site had it for 159 dollar, 144 euros. That's...

    ANC for the audiophile?

2019 is definitely the year for noise cancelling it would seem. You can't walk into an open plan office any more without half the people wearing them. And because I'm spending a lot of my time in an open office/hot desk environment I'm also interested. So I borrowed some headphones from co...

    soundmagic e80 and ambient noise

Possibly a silly question but... I got these as a christmas present. I'm really liking their sound but am less enthousiastic about the amount of ambient noise I'm getting with these. Even with the triple flange silicon tips that work like a dream on my sony xba-c10 I'm getting really rather...

Ibasso IT01 or Fiio FH1 or Pioneer SE-CH9T?

I'm considering upgrading my travel in-ears from Sony XBA-c10 to something that's got a bit more detail and more instrument separation. My listening is a lot of classical, opera, jazz and very rarely some pop. I don't consider myself a basshead although I do love my Beyerdynamic DT770 pro 250...

when to stop fixing headphones and buy new?

I bought my beyerdynamics DT-770 in 2011. Since then they've seen a lot of use. Most days they're in my work backpack because they're the best way for me to deal with open plan offices.   Last year I had a big row with beyerdynamic to get a spare slider kit for a halfway decent price. I've...

    budget in-ears for classical?

I currently have philips 3590 in-ears for those times when the big Beyerdynamic isn't an option due to it's size. As far as bang-for-buck goes the philips are amazing but I want to get something a bit better.   Thing bothering me is that most reviews and adds for in-ears talk about base and...

    Loving DT770pro, looking for earbuds

Hi all,   Got my Beyerdynamic DT770 pro which I love. Mainly listen to classical and jazz with them. Am now looking for earbuds for those moments that dragging the big Beyer is too much. Trying to keep it within 50 euros.   I've been looking at: superlux hd381f Beyer DTX 41e Sennheiser CX...

    Robust budget earphones?

My kids are on average  using up a pair of dirt-cheap earphones every 2-3 months. My daughter is now at an age where sound quality starts to matter. I am therefore looking for recommendations for earphones with a sturdy cable in the  sub $35 price range.   Any tips greatly appreciated!

X3 works as DAC for 90 seconds at most

X3, 3.30 firmware, 2.23 drivers.  Windows 7 64 bit.   it works as a dac, it sounds absolutely stunning but it crashes after 90 seconds at most and quicker still if I play high bitrate files.   I was intending to swap this for an E17 but now I'm not even sure about that.   Any ideas?

    beyerdynamic spares, where to order?

Hi all,   My Dt770 have developed a crack in the left slider. Now I found that beyerdynamic have a slider repair kit (part #  903760) which is already quite expensive at  EUR 17,40 but for them to put it in an envelope and send it to the Netherlands would cost another 17 euros! (shipping to...

Anyone ever listen to a Moto E?

My daughter bought a new phone, a moto E this weekend. She came complaining about the sound quality for her music. Since I'm not at all familiar with k-pop, which suffers a lot from loudness problems anyways, I put half a dozen high bitrate mp3 files on it, Diana krall mostly.   At first it...

    New DAP or DAC?

I've got a Clip+  and a Beyer DT-770 pro 250 ohm. I mainly listen classical, opera, jazz and occasionally some classic rock.   The current combination works well enough for my needs. I don't mind the weird interface on the rockboxed clip and find the sound quality mostly acceptable but...

    bass reflex speakers tiring?

Recently I bought a Denon CEOL and a pair of Dali Zensor 1 speakers to replace an aging Kenwood set with some home build 3-way speakers I'd bought more than 20 years ago for 20 euros a pair. (dealer got them as a trade-in and they were taking up space he needed so he practically gave them away)...

    newbie question: What to use

I know the information is here somewhere but I just cannot seem to find it. Probably because it's very basic and I just don't know the jargon very well.   I want to make a simple cable to ensure I don't wreck the headphone connector on my Clip+. by taking a neutrik NTP3RC-B, angled 3.5mm...

Big gap between the Sandisk players and the X3/Dx50?

Is it just me or is there a big gap between the Sandisk players and the next best thing, the X3 and the Dx50? My Clip zip just took an unfortunate fall so I was looking into replacements. At the bottom end of the market Sandisk is still there but most other options seem to have died out.  ...

    interconnect cables on ebay?

I've got the hefty plug of my Beyerdynamic DT 770 plugged directly into my little Clip+ and that's an accent waiting to happen. I'm looking for a short interconnect cable to add some flexibilty. Anyone got anything to recommend? An ebay merchant would be nice.

looking to replace a sennheiser PX100-II due to changing taste in music, got a shortlist.

OK, let me share the whole story..   I'm mostly using a Sansa Clip+. I started out with a sennheiser PMX-60 which was good enough for medium bit rate country and 80-90s pop and rock. Affordable and they did their job. When I broke the second pair I spent a little more and got me a PX100-II...

    Sony MDR-ZX700 and classical music?

Was reading trough http://www.head-fi.org/t/433318/shootout-96-portable-headphones-reviewed-v-moda-m-80-added-11-27-11  which is littered with exotic brands but also featured a sony that can be had for as little as 80 euros.   Has anyone listened to these on classical and jazz? I'm driving...

Found a Sennheiser PXC 360 under the tree but...

I'm having somewhat mixed feelings...   After about 2 hours they're already improving quite a bit. Classical music is now possible on this thing, jazz is beginning to sound like I should. The noise cancellation isn't stellar but it does make concentrating on your music that much easier.  ...
