X3, 3.30 firmware, 2.23 drivers.  Windows 7 64 bit.

it works as a dac, it sounds absolutely stunning but it crashes after 90 seconds at most and quicker still if I play high bitrate files.

I was intending to swap this for an E17 but now I'm not even sure about that.

Any ideas?

I tried it with multiple songs , ran it for few hours ..it didn't crash..
Can you specify the bit rate your are trying to play..
also what firmware version are you using.. I'm using the 3.30

I got the same problem!
It have worked before but now it doesn't.

After connecting the X3 to the USB cable (FiiO cable connected to the rear port of my pc) the DAC mode is on for a couple of seconds. Then the X3 goes into charge mode and when the timer expires it goes off / charging.

Tried FW 3.3 and 3.2, I experience the same issue.
This worked before for me. Weird.

Edit:
It's definitely a software problem. My X3 works fine on my younger brothers pc and his X3 gives the same behaviour at my pc.

EDIT2:
Fixed it on my laptop.
Uninstalled the 2.23 driver I found here somewhere. Installed official X3-X5 DAC drivers from FiiO.
Works again! :D

It can be a bit fiddly. I briefly had the same problem with the E10 but that went away after I rebuild the drivers on the laptop.

Cases like this Fiio's support shows that it's a relatively small and chinese company. Customer support doesn't come easy and it is still at the level of Ford.
